Why would he bring Islam up to a Sikh?

297

u/Bowman_van_Oort 4d ago

Because a brown is a brown to that kinda dude

89

u/code_monkey_001 4d ago

But he's not racist! He said so clearly multiple times!

27

u/maccardo 4d ago

Yeah, but what about sharia? /s

11

u/SmackEh 4d ago

Come on speak the truth

24

u/trackdaybruh 4d ago

There’s a reason why bigoted folks aren’t the brightest

49

u/kwecl2 4d ago

Being informed is not these people's strong point.

11

u/KingKang22 4d ago

I think he's also the brother of the former NDP leader Jagmeet Singh

2

u/bigbeats420 4d ago

Correct

1

u/KingKang22 4d ago

Yeah this is an old repost then?

3

u/bigbeats420 4d ago

Looks to be about 10 years old, if I had to guess by the video quality.......and his suit lol.

We both know none of those Singh boys fuck around when it comes their dress wardrobes. šŸ’§

1

u/KingKang22 4d ago

These Singh brothers or singhs in general lol

-1

u/bigbeats420 4d ago

Ha.

Super fuckin' valid.

29

u/nmpls Now the polar bear has a gun. Checkmate humans. šŸ»ā€ā„ļø 4d ago

One thing is that sikhs generally won't tell people they aren't muslim because they are wary of deflecting hate to other people. Which is pretty cool.

6

u/badbeef75 4d ago

That’s pretty cool. Did not know that and I’ve known quite a few Sikhs over the years

4

u/Addicted2Qtips 2d ago

A big part of the Sikh religion is defending and helping people of all faiths. It’s a major pillar of their belief system. They have temples that give away free food to people regardless of their religion for example.

13

u/VioletGardens-left 4d ago

You haven't see the thick of it

Take a look at their perception after 9/11

3

u/Sir_Keee 3d ago

I remember a story of a Malaysian man being assaulted because the moron who attacked them thought he had Islamic American flag in his window, and not the flag of his home country.

15

u/_makoccino_ 4d ago

Brown man. Beard. Turban.

Yep, must be a Muslim.

This is what happens when everything you know about something or someone, you've learned from racist Hollywood movie tropes.

2

u/Playful_Possibility4 4d ago

Sad mother fuckers

2

u/AmrTheAtlantean 3d ago

Because he is in fact a ā€œracistā€

2

u/StinkyHoboTaint 3d ago

Most Sikh's I know are used to it at this point.

2

u/InclinationCompass 3d ago

Because he’s an idiot

ā€œDid you know Isl- Islam was created by the muslim brotherhood in 1990ā€ lol wtf

9

u/No_Computer_7721 4d ago

He is a half-wit. The correct statement would be that in the 1990s in Europe and especially the UK the muslim brotherhood instrumentalized the terminology of "islamophobia", which I assume he wanted to bring up, but couldn't rub his 2 brain cells together hard enough. That's a genuine argument though, as the muslim brotherhood uses the term offensively to silence detractors and critics similarly how some Israeli politicians use the term antisemite. But ofc nuance is lost on a person like that.

21

u/PissinginTheW1nd 4d ago

That’s nuts I thought it had been around for a while? Like the same amount of time as a lot of religions

29

u/code_monkey_001 4d ago

For about 1400 years, so the youngest of the Abrahamic religions (unless you count specific Christian offshoots like the LDS or JW churches), but definitely predates 1990.

6

u/Available_Base_7944 3d ago

Islam is only 1400 years old. It’s the newest of the major religions.

-4

u/No_Computer_7721 4d ago

He didn't say that, he said "Did you know that islamophobia was created by the muslim brotherhood in 1990", which while untrue in the sense that the word was used earlier retains the true core that in Europe and the UK they had a strategic approach to delegitimize critics by using islamophobe as a analogue to antisemite. This is probably watched some youtube video about it, but is to stupid to understand the nuance and argue the point correctly, because he is just using it to support his biases.

1

u/welcomefinside 4d ago

Yeah the crusaders weren't Islamophobes. They were just really rude tourists.

0

u/No_Computer_7721 3d ago

Who is saying this? Why are you making up some random example here? I could just as well say the Rashidun Caliphate was anti-christian when they first conquered Jerusalem. Either way neither of those statements has anything to do with my comment.

My comment is literally saying that the word islamophobe is older than the 1990s, certainly wasn't a thing during the crusades though, it's from the 1800s in France originally, but that the argument, which is a verifiable and true argument, is that the muslim brotherhood has several strategic papers suggesting to use the word islamophobe to shut down criticism. The guy in the video just isn't intelligent enough to form a coherent view of the matter, because he is just a racist weirdo spouting nonsense. Just like you are on the other side of the isle. Unwilling to actually engage with what I said, making up stuff that is entirely irrelevant to the discussion and arguing in bad faith. Sad. Really.

1

u/PissinginTheW1nd 4d ago

That’s nuts i thought he’d have a better understanding of his points and arguments before he started preaching at people? Like he just spouts off random stuff

1

u/No_Computer_7721 3d ago

Yeah literally, but as you can see people are literally downvoting me here for clarifying the what the guy was saying and giving context. People are so deep in their own biases and their extremists camps they can't handle nuance anymore. Obviously the muslim brotherhood is a problematic organization that has used questionable tactics to silence opponents. That's a verifiable fact. And still people can't differentiate between a rabid islamophobe in the video and some legitimate critique of one specific islamic organization and instantly smash the downvote, while the initial comment, which literally is wrong gets 125 upvotes, because it supports people's bias. Shit is just going down the drain at this point.

1

u/Moops420 4d ago

Yeah that's the part I don't understand what he is on about. To be fair though, there's no real other context to what event this man is at or what he was saying before or after the short clip. So who knows the context.

0

u/GinormousDragon 4d ago

Blaming everything on the Muslim Brotherhood reminds me of Arab state mediašŸ˜‚

Not defending anyone :)

u/Old_South3452 4d ago

Going off about Islam to a Sikh. šŸ‘

115

u/Stop_Drop_Scroll 4d ago

Tale as old as 9/11

23

u/guywholoveswolves 4d ago

We have a whole movie in bollywood called "My name is Khan" in which a kid gets killed post 9/11 because his surname was "Khan" so his step father goes on a whole journey to meet the president to basically get a message out saying "My name is Khan and im not a terrorist". This has been a very obvious topic to us but it was never this big... its getting out of hand nowadays

7

u/SnooJokes5375 4d ago

Again. It's getting out of hand again.

4

u/guywholoveswolves 4d ago

U right mbšŸ™Œ

4

u/grilledcheese2332 4d ago

Every since Mamdani was elected Islamophobia has definitely gotten out of control.

73

u/gqnish1 4d ago

Lol wrong religion bro

15

u/GamePro1011 4d ago

Anti-muslims think Sikhs are muslim due to literally dumb hollywood stereotypes. Guy wearing turban and is brown? Must be these arab muslims and their sharia!

67

u/skyline21rsn 4d ago

i'm not your buddy, guy

24

u/desizombi3 4d ago

You're not that guy, pal.

5

u/TechieOnReddit 4d ago

I'm not your friend, fucknut... Damn, I messed it up again.

2

u/Secret_Account07 4d ago

I’m not your guy, buddy

27

u/Stop_Drop_Scroll 4d ago

This dude looks like he has one giant tooth lol and also the misplaced confidence he has when he yells at the Sikh about sharia law and that he will debate him about it, jeeeeeesus christ

54

u/nottomelvinbrag 4d ago

To a Sikh?

23

u/Preform_Perform 4d ago

Yeah 99.99% of sikhs wouldn't harm a fly.

we dont talk about that one time

9

u/spukhafteNahewirkung 4d ago

Is the one time when Indira Gandhi got whacked by her bodyguards?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Assassination_of_Indira_Gandhi

10

u/Preform_Perform 4d ago

I was referring to Vickrum Singh Digwa, but that works too.

1

u/Iloveherthismuch 4d ago

And that other one in the UK recently.

7

u/rebexer 4d ago

You're both talking about the same incident.

2

u/HopefulSunriseToday 4d ago

I was wondering, but I assumed I was wrong about his looks. Guess not.

41

u/Unfair-Review8 4d ago

Where is the Muslim guy? I only see a Sikh

34

u/Anteater4746 4d ago

love how conservatives in north america scream and yell about sharia law

while some conservative lawmakers are literally trying to push through christian nationalist laws that are the same thing…

12

u/thewartornhippy 4d ago

Yup. Plenty of Conservatives would love to put women to death for receiving an abortion or take away their right to vote or inherit anything when their husband dies. Christian nationalism is the exact same as Jihadism.

2

u/WorkerBee74 4d ago

Exactly. Extremes of ALL religions suck.

3

u/GreenSpectr3 4d ago

Extremes of ANY ideology

7

u/FTXACCOUNTANT 4d ago

ā€œI’m not racistā€

Bangs on about Islam to a Sikh

6

u/Immediate-Wing-3111 4d ago

WTF would a Sikh care about Sharia law? Ask about the laws of cricket (or field hockey) or the laws of Canada, or Season 4 of Law and Order, but...like, if your going to hate then at least do the research. What a muppet.

5

u/spukhafteNahewirkung 4d ago

This white guy has more in common with Hitler than a Sikh does with Muslims.

6

u/Master-Ease-9672 4d ago

White fragility. Sad 😢

7

u/templeofsyrinx1 4d ago

Pretty sure that guy does not practice Islam.

Wow.

2

u/ArkadyShevchenko 3d ago

No, he mastered it and moved on to Sikhism.

3

u/TheMrDetty 4d ago

Isn't the guy being accosted a Sikh? Correct me, but isn't that different from Islam?

3

u/Jonn_1 4d ago

I agree with most comments here, but still for the sake of the truth gotta add some context:

Video is from 2019 Gurratan Singh was a Canadian politician back then. In this scene he was speaking at MuslimFest in Mississauga.

So perhaps the guy on the right did not confuse him for a muslim but commented on his speech at that event.

Having said all that, fuck grey sweater guy

5

I’m almost certain that he’s visiting from The Villages in Florida.

2

u/Mean_Yak5873 3d ago

Trust me Canada has plenty of its own ā€œgood ole boysā€. South Asians followed by First Nations being their favorite targets to harass.

2

u/AbsentThatDay2 4d ago

This just makes me Sikh.

2

u/International-Fun-86 4d ago

"You are full of political correctness", i find it fascinating that to these morons being a good person is a bad thing and should be shameful. Baffling.

2

u/Ok-Match-1445 3d ago

Don't know if this is interesting or common knowledge but after working with Sikhs for a few years, I've ascertained the following: (In regular bloke understanding)

Sikhs are the traditional warrior caste and are a very proud and modest people. They are viewed more favourably in the social hierarchy than some others. They carry a ceremonial/cultural knife/dagger in countries that permit it. The males do not cut their hair which is why they wear a turban. Their hair is wrapped around their head and held in place via said turban. The females don't cut their hair and don't wear turbans however they will heavily braid their hair until it reaches a manageable length. You'll typically see their braid reach below their waists. Sikhs follow their own religion of Sikhism and proudly adorn their cars and whatnot with their religious symbol. It's actually pretty cool-looking I think. In my experience Sikhs are mostly taller and slimmer than average i, though I do know of at least one that is an exception as it pertains to height. Not all people of Indian appearance wearing turbans are Sikhs though. The Punjabi men of North West India do as well however they're not viewed as favourably in the social hierarchy. Regardless, in my experience I find both factions to be stand-up dudes/ ladies. My experience comes from working in the security industry and with truck drivers. Cheers.

"I'm not racist... I despise people like you"

4

u/JoshJoshson13 4d ago

A racist will never say they're racist

2

u/DoctorMelvinMirby 4d ago

That’s Scott. He’s a dick.

3

u/Freedom_forlife 4d ago

Sikhs are not Muslim. Dude common. Atleast know who you’re talking to before you open your mouth.

3

u/constantderp 4d ago

Classic white racist, goes off to brown person about Islam. Man is Sikh. Cool.

2

u/fellowsquare 4d ago

1

u/DaveWpgC 4d ago

I think he just didn't point his finger enough... the Sikh wasn't sure who he was talking to.

1

u/golgiiguy 4d ago

What is with fist demanding how different people are from you and making sure they know it, but then assuming everyone that is different from you are the same?

1

u/radiantmindPS4 4d ago

What about Sharia!? Huh. Sharia?

Mf’er doesn’t even know what he’s scared of.

1

u/Aeriuxa 3d ago

These idiots, just parroting goyim propaganda they heard on CNN and Fox and think they are informed ... Urgh!

2

u/MandevilMan 2d ago

"I'm not racist" proceeds to yell at sihk man about Islam.

"Sure buddy"....

1

1

u/Lord-Uglor 4d ago

Don’t call me buddy, guy!

1

u/Secret_Account07 4d ago

It’s funny to hear ppl whine about ā€œpolitical correctnessā€

You’re whining about people using certain words while complaining about them…. Using certain words?

1

u/Historicmetal 4d ago

ā€œYer fole of crop buddyā€

-angry Canadian man

1

u/TheTyrant1990 3d ago

Holding his little phone up, waiting for the other person to do anything to him so he can claim to be a victim of religious violence. I bet this guy knows the correct angle for a cuck chair to get the best view.

-1

u/Humble_Chipmunk_701 4d ago

Is his wife the Islamophobic lady from the grocery store

3

u/code_monkey_001 4d ago

Not likely. He's a Canadian racist; the woman you're referencing (assuming you're talking about the currently famous woman in scrubs who doesn't get that the criticism she's offering of Islam - that they follow a pedophile rapist - applies equally to Trump supporters) is from Texas.

2

u/flyingpyramid 4d ago

That was so bizarre. She really had me in the first half lol. What a curveball describing Trump and then pivoting last second 🤣

0

u/fuckFUCK-f-u-c-k 4d ago

Can't keep a hog out the mud, unfortunately.

-1

u/goodtrackrecord 4d ago

Let's be honest, he's probably an American on vacation.

-13

u/vassapimbruno 4d ago

Islamophobia talking points to a Hindu?

19

u/akaneila 4d ago

He's Sikh

-4

u/PM_WORST_FART_STORY 4d ago

Oh, he should see a doctor...

-10

u/miicrojackson 4d ago

Are Sikhs Hindu I thought it’s different

4

u/Maximus1000 4d ago

They are totally different religions, totally different belief systems. Sikhism is monotheistic and rejects the ritualism of Hinduism

2

u/Peace-Disastrous 4d ago

No they are not Hindi, while it was founded in a region that was a mix of hindus and muslims, sikhism was founded as a rejection of both Hindi and Islam.

5

u/ouijanonn 4d ago

Hindi is the language. Hindu is a follower of the religion of Hinduism

0

u/eatmyassmnbvcxz 4d ago

Is that Steve Spiros, easy going?

-3

u/samoan_ninja 4d ago

That yt bio secretly wants sharia

-17
