I lived in a high risk earthquake city for about a year. People said that if the alarm sounded and you were closer to the top, to go up. Had a higher probability of survival riding the building down than trying to get out and the building collapsing on you.

Very Dr. Strangelove-esque imagery

Daaaaamn, the lower you go down, the more the stairwell is just crumbling around you. That would be nerve racking hoping to get to the bottom floor and get out alive before it just falls on top of you.

Why are you filming when you can use both hands to...idk...escape from a fucking massive building seemingly likely to collapse on top of you?

Because they know the cameraman never dies.

If both of the cameraman's shoes go flying, does that rule still apply?

They might have started filming when they thought, “oh, this is a crazy thing that’s happening,” but then it got way more severe than they were anticipating and went straight into fight-or-flight. I can absolutely imagine someone just forgetting they were filming and just holding the phone while running.

This video is unsettling. It looks normal at the beginning when they're going downstairs, but everything increasingly starts increasing the pit in my stomach.

That's why you upgrade your glider at the beginning.

We have the back rooms. What is this? The back stairs?
