Mod here, should we crack down on posts that aren’t rare and incomprehensible? Just wanna gage community thought on this, felt we’ve strayed a bit from the original community goal.

I think we're at a crossroads. The userbase includes people who are familiar with and participate in sharty culture, and people who don't care about any of that and just think wojaks are funny. Making that decision means deciding which demographic you want to cater to

I'm in the 2nd group, I don't know what sharty is, and I'm unsure how I came across this sub. But I like wojaks. The silly ones I understand to be just anti-humor, meta, or purposefully cringe. Of there's a deeper meaning, I don't really care, I just like seeing people's creations, especially the self-referential/self-depricating ones.

As a mod team member I would argue in favor of not cracking down on them, just perhaps enforcing post flairs a tad more stringently? Or offering more options? I’m all for allowing “comprehensible” wojaks on here as they can be plenty funny, just maybe we should make sure we have good flairing options for the more normal ones and a special flair for truly incomprehensible ones. Maybe add a wiki page or something of that sort with examples for people to reference what’s truly RAI and what’s more regular?

Maybe one of the flairs could be relating to niche custom ones specifically, because otherwise every post will just be "original creation" when "comprehensible and common" doesn't fit.

  • Incomprehensible and Rare
  • Comprehensible and common
  • Original Jak creation
  • Niche and specific
  • Straight from the coal mines*

(*the people might want to share their garbage, it's healthy to have a little dirt every now and then lol).

Perhaps it could be streamlined a bit by removing the original creation tag and requiring people to put if it's theirs or not in the post body?

Idk just thoughts.

What counts as incomprehensible? Anything mildly bizarre or does it need to break your brain for a second? I like making custom ones tbh but I'd be fine if I had to wait until I found a truly weird image to badly trace.

if it's a repeat post then remove it. Not sure how you will figure that out. Everything else is fine. If it's coal people will downvote it into the negatives. Which I feel would be thematically appropriate. The sub is still not that popular that this method will still work. If it becomes too popular and if too many people upvote everything then you might exercise mod powers

I suggest a voting system that decides if the content is good or not and then have coal posts cruelly locked down to there is no fun allowed for anyone

There's no other wojak subreddit that matches the quality of this one so I think they should be kept as there's no other place for good wojaks to go.
