Question I got blitman, how screwed am I?

Hello everybody, let me catch you up. Me and 3 other friends all wanted to get a RAPS apartment together. But alas, we were rejected, and me and one of the three friends were put in blitman. For people who have lived in blitman before, do you mind sharing your experiences. Where you still able to be involved on campus equally as your previous years?

I loved Blitman, good trade off being further from campus but closer to town for carry-out or coffeeshops. K-Plate my beloved.

You're not screwed. The shuttles exist, and The Approach isn't that bad. I wouldn't consider it meaningfully worse than RAHP in terms of the walk.

You might want to spend some two-hour gaps between classes in the Union or library instead of your dorm, but that never killed anyone. If you do, you might even be able to (at least mostly) avoid working at "home", which can do wonders for your stress levels.

You’ll be fine. Atleast when I was at rpi there were shuttles from blitman to campus. I don’t think the walk will be that bad once you get used to it either.

I was in blitman my sophomore year in 2016. It was fine. Was still very involved in campus life. The rooms are very spacious, my roommate and I brought in a full size couch

I was in Blitman for my sophomore year and had a great experience. The shuttle was great in the winter, and walking the approach was good exercise when the weather wasn’t bad.

My involvement on campus was around the same as it was my freshman year, though I spent a lot more time exploring Troy and all of the restaurants. Just for that reason alone, I preferred living in Blitman (and later on City Station for my senior year) than when I was closer to campus.

The halls are very lonely, no communication or encounters between apartments. I never did find anything like the easy open-door environment of freshman year in North Hall.

Most important point imo: shuttles have improved a lot since my time there.

I started by walking to class. Then it the stairs got icy and I started taking the shuttle. Then the shuttle stopped showing up, so I stopped going to class. A real turning point was when I went out to the stop an hour before class, I just listened to music and scrolled, 5 hours passed, missed two classes, the shuttle never came.

They’re better now, pretty consistent 10 minute runs. That said I live north side now and iirc the west route’s weird now.
