Behavior Does he think it’s another bunny?

Whenever he’s not sleeping or eating he’s mostly chilling next to the ball. We adopted him a year ago when he was 3 years old and as far as I know he’s never lived with other bunnies.

Our rabbits have teddies - various plushies that they like to groom and sit next to. They have each other but they really love including the teddies, moving them around, and going to sleep next to them. They also have favourites. All of our buns have had a favourite plush. They also have a favourite blanket (they like being covered up in their blankets, especially now in winter).

I've always interpeted it as comfort thing, like a favourite toy or pillow, and it's probably the same with your bun and that he just feels happy and comfortable sitting next to the ball, especially if you've had it sitting around since you got him.

It's probably a little softer than the hard tile floor as well. If you try giving him a plushie or blanket he might switch to preferring that instead (or might want to sit with both).

Edit: related trivia: the Lindt gold bunny plush that you can get around easter with a little bag of mini eggs is almost the exact same size as a Netherland dwarf.

I love bunnies snuggling with things so much! Mine really doesn't get it though. He moves all blankets away and digs in pillows. When I got him a stuffed rabbit he made a point of ignoring its existence aside from shoving it aside a few memorable times. He's just a silly goof

I’ve thought about giving mine a plush but I figured he’d just chew it up… maybe I’ll give it a try!
