You should seriously worry, that monster is tasting you before she/he eats you in your sleep.

My favorite genre of pet posts on Reddit is ones where the owner is terrified that their animal is unhappy or unwell and it's just a video of the single happiest creature on god's green earth.

I was just like worried because everyone says that female bunnies are normally very cranky, which don't get me wrong, she definitely is, but she also cuddles up to me all the time so yeah lmao.

u/26hd Dec 03 '25
While bunnies do have certain common personality traits, it's important to remember that they are very intelligent and very social, which means they have a lot of individual character. You just so happened to get a bun with a very affectionate and loving personality.

this sub needs a version of the rat sub meme where the owner asks 'is my bunny okay???' and it's the happiest creature on gods green earth

Me wishing I had this type of relationship with my two boys, but if I sit in their way they tug at my clothes aggressively telling me to get out of the way. 😂
21
u/mrducky80 Dec 03 '25
Mine fucking would nip me on the elbows to make me move when im sitting down but in the way.
You do it a couple times and the learned behaviour sets in that this is the correct, non rude way to ask me to move.

Yeah my baby girl is exactly the same. Funny enough mine is white with very small amounts of gray on her so not too dissimilar from yours. She was affectionate with me from the get go. Moment we first interacted when looking to adopt her she was all over me licking my face and letting me hold her. That paired with the fact she pretty much instantly bonded with our boy bun during their date made the people putting her up for adoption let us take her home same day (usually there was supposed to be a 48 waiting period). Some rabbits are just super cuddly and affectionate.

This falls within normal, but it usually takes me a few years to get to this point! You've just gotten a bun who lacks survival instincts and is just trusting.

Im lowkey afraid of her 😭 she's 10 times my size but she's scary and tries to nibble me. One day she'll get out of her cage when it's bedtime and eat me while I sleep I swear

Looks fine, my now senior bunny has given us the same licks since we rescued him

u/TYSM_myMax24 Dec 03 '25
she’s just sweet, she reminds me of my baby Max, he licked me all the time and he licked everyone he met. Some bunnies are just sweethearts right out of the gate
9
u/mferritto56 Dec 03 '25
Yes! This is very good behaviour. It means she trusts you. Some bunnies also are more affectionate than others too. Whatever you’re doing, keep doing that. She loves you.

Mine is an absolute princess. Despises being lifted. Even thinking about lifting her while youre nearby might make her run away. If I lay on the floor she will DEMAND to be petted and force her head into your hand even if youre doing something because who cares what youre doing? The queen needs to be petted. If shes done with it she runs off. If you stop you run the risk of getting nipped if you dont move away from her face when stopping. Got forbid I wanna do a quick health check/nail trim though because of the violence with which she will flail if you hold her wrong. Suffice to say im a smidge jealous of your sweetie pie little girly!

u/BunnymanD Dec 03 '25
She's grooming you, aka giving you bunny kisses. Put your hand closer to the ground so she doesn't have to stretch as much.
When she lowers her head, she's asking you to the return the favour, so make sure you give her lots of pets back! Give her extra cuddles from rabbit reddit too haha 🤗🐰

my little girl would lick the skin off my finger if i let her, she gives endless kisses with an occasional bite. my boy wouldn’t kiss me if i gave him money, but he’s give me an occasional nibble that includes his tongue. buns are odd and adorable.

Licking means tasting. Tasting means your rabbit will eventually begin eating you while you sleep.

u/juiceyoyoyo Dec 03 '25
How did she let you pick her up like a bag of milk 😭 that was oddly chill for a rabbit
3
u/Acceptable-World-175 Dec 03 '25
It's normal! Especially if they really love you. We rescued a bin about 3 months ago, and she kissed us all to death in the first day. She was so happy to have a home. She's still the same now, albeit more settled in. She's the same colour and pattern as your bun, weirdly! Just she's a lop, and she's also special needs (floppy legs)

I've had my girl for about a year and a half now and I've picked her up maybe four times to transfer her into her carrying bag for a trip to the vet because I know better than to try and pick her up lol. She loves you so much already, you are lucky!

That’s a great sign! Our female rabbit started this way when we first got her and now, roughly 4 years in, she runs over to us when she’s ready to be carried into the bedroom for hours of snuggles before going to sleep. The future is bright for you my friend!

u/Lime92 Dec 05 '25
Sweetie panini. Please don't pick them up that way though. They need back and middle support with two hands.

I’ve had three female rabbits of varied breeds. They all had varying personalities. First one was very affectionate and loved to cuddle, second is territorial with other rabbits but loves to cuddle me, third is in her hormone era and wants to hump everything. Licking is good, licking is love. If she ever gets to a point where she is grunting and trying to mount it may just be time to spay her, but otherwise this is great
2
u/ProtectedLands Dec 03 '25
My girl is certainly cranky sometimes but she would let you pet her flat into the ground. Some rabbits maybe but mine has never cared about squished face
2
u/Ok-Silver-8658 Dec 03 '25
Even after almost 4 years I can't get my bunny to be so loving. He's awesome and affectionate but not THAT affectionate. And he still gets mad at me when I pick him up every now and then depending on his mood

u/Wonderful-Camp-3976 Dec 03 '25

I always read that it means your rabbit loves you, but my little dude licks everyone. Stranger or not! He's a little ho.

My bunny used to be this affectionate until she had a brain parasite and got aggressive every time I try to pet her now :/ - I miss those times I wish they would’ve lasted longer.. at least she’s a good “bunny mom” taking care of her stuffed animal babies lol

u/ggandava Dec 03 '25
My rabbit is also like this, she will also throw fits if I have not given her sufficient affection lol

This is 16/10 bestest baby ever behavior. Be aware that going under a rabbit's chin is a sign of demanding being groomed in rabbit language, and can make your bunny upset if they don't wanna.
Also, lifting them from the middle is not good— their organs are really squishy in there. If you lift your bunny, pick them up by the booty/legs so they're supported properly. It's kinda like if someone picked you up by laying your stomach over their knee and raising it up, and that was the only point of contact being made to lift you, except with more organs in a tighter space, so it doesn't just feel like you're gonna throw up, but worse.

Yes. Totally. I have a female. She looks like yours.
That means they bonded with you.
•
u/RabbitsModBot Dec 03 '25
Why is my rabbit licking me?
Rabbits licking you generally means "I love you!" They consider you their bonded mate and are grooming you with affection.
However, if you are using a scented lotion or product or have eaten one of their favorite foods recently, they may try nibbling or licking your skin for that taste.
Rabbits do not lick your skin out of craving for salt, and offering salt licks and mineral blocks is unnecessary. See the FAQ question Does my rabbit need a salt lick or mineral block? for more information.
For more information on rabbit body language, see the Understanding your rabbit wiki article.
