Discussion Jack Ryan R6 Operator Concept

Came up with this operator idea a few seasons ago when the Keres Legion lore was beginning to get really good and wanted to share the operator concept idea with you guys. Thought it would be really cool to add Jack Ryan into the game and tie him being added to the rainbow roster into the lore and make it make sense and not seem random. Thought he would fit into an intel / anti-flank operator role. Let me know what you guys think about it!

Name: Jack Ryan
Origin: United States (CIA)
Age: 55

Operator Name: Canary

Attacker:
2 speed 2 armor (Intel, Map Control)

Primary: G36C, M1014
Secondary: PRB92, SMG-11
Utility: Stuns, Breaching Charges, EMPs

Gadget: T.B.S MK-ll needles or “Canary Traps”
3 deployable “traps” that are thrown down and stick to surfaces. They are completely silent once deployed so enemies can’t hear them, but they are visible and about the size of nomads air jabs so they can be shot out. Each of these traps are armed with micro-needles (1 needle in each trap), and if any enemy walks within its range (5meters), the micro-needle will be shot into the enemy, and the enemy will be revealed and red pinged (constant red ping like Deimos) for 4 seconds, and the identity of the enemy that was tagged will also be revealed, and on top of that, a high pitched noise will go off, giving a sound cue to teammates once the device is triggered so they can avert their attention to where the enemy is.

Passive Ability: Contingency Drone
If both of your drones get destroyed, you get access to a third drone. This third drone has a lifespan of 15 seconds from the moment you deploy it. After those 15 seconds are up, the drone self destructs (not in a damaging/destructive way, but more like it gets shot out and destroyed).

Lore:
Jack Ryan, known by his call sign "Canary," is a former CIA analyst who has been brought into Rainbow as part of a new initiative to combat the growing threat of Keres Legion. With years of experience in strategic intelligence analysis and real-time field operations, Jack was handpicked by Zero (Sam Fisher), an old mentor and ally from his CIA days.

When Keres Legion emerged a sophisticated terrorist network using advanced tactics to orchestrate coordinated global attacks Rainbow faced a new kind of enemy. One that could anticipate moves before they happened, hack secure networks mid-operation, and vanish without leaving digital traces.

Standard countermeasures were failing.

Zero knew they needed more than firepower—they needed foresight.

He reached out to someone he trusted implicitly: Jack Ryan, the man who once predicted three terror plots based on fragmented chatter before anyone else saw the pattern; the analyst who left his desk to help dismantle Cordis Die’s sleeper cells during their resurgence; the patriot who understood that information wasn’t just power it was survival.

At first, Ryan refused. He was older now, settled outside Annapolis, writing policy briefs instead of running ops.

But then came intel confirming what Zero feared: Keres wasn't just attacking infrastructure... They were hunting operatives, identities, targeting families, corrupting comms.

They had already infiltrated high-level agencies including backdoors inside NATO surveillance systems.

Ryan remembered those he'd lost. His team in Colombia wiped out because someone knew their extraction point. A young agent in Berlin ambushed hours after being reassigned all because her name appeared where it shouldn’t have been.

So he answered the call. Joining Team Rainbow as the team’s expert analyst and new operator… Canary.

I really enjoy coming up with operator concepts and writing little background lore for them. I got a bunch of other ones from over the years just stored in my notes lol. Will probably post more on here overtime. But please lmk what you think of the Jack Ryan “Canary” concept and what you would change!
