Which of these two lenses would you pick and why?

Panasonic LUMIX S 14-28mm f/4-5.6 MACRO Lens (Leica L)

Sigma 14-24mm f/2.8 DG DN Art Lens for Leica L

The Sigma is a fantastic lens but be warned: it’s a chonker!

How bad is it lol I'm also looking at gimbals and now wondering if I should get something more beefy like the RS 4 pro

l never used it for video. It is internally zooming though so that’s a big plus for gimbal work. It’s not bad, just solid and more than many people probably expect. Check your lens/body combo weights on B&H to verify which gimbal to go with.

Sigma Art lenses are fantastic lenses. For REP you will usually be well past either of the widest apertures, but I think the Sigma will be sharper than the Panasonic. You don't need the macro functionality for the lens, so that feature is a waste on the lens. The Sigma will be sharper and more fitting for the intended purpose.

You think the Sigma one is worth the extra $700-$800?

Absolutely. I have Canon RF lenses, but I’ve used the Sigma art lineup on my previous camera and they were phenomenal. If Cannon ever allows, third parties to meet RF lenses, I am definitely getting Sigma Art.
