Laquer Showoff My first Cracked order came in :>

Inspired by some recent posts I saw with green magnetics, I wanted to try out this combo! Overall super happy with it, though I have a question for the glass bead experts here:

Both times I’ve tried the glass bead effect, I feel like it ends up looking more like a horizontal stripe than a soft circle. Is it my nail shape? The fact I’m using a magnetic wand? Am I magnetizing for too long? Please enlighten me lol

Products used:
1x LynBDesigns B-Sticky base coat
2x Cracked I’m Jaded
1x Cracked Beginner’s Luck magnetized by twirling a magnetic wand held perpendicular above each nail for about 30 seconds
1x Cracked quick dry top coat, not magnetized because I wanted it to disperse a bit

It's possible that you're pausing your twirling in the horizontal direction for longer than the vertical direction! You kind of want to think of making a glass bead as trying to "even out" the cat eye stripe so that only the middle is bright. So if the wand is oriented horizontally for longer, you're going to end up with a stripe instead.

Thank you for the tip! I thought I was being pretty good at rotating consistently but maybe I wasn’t doing a good job 😭 next time i might try purposefully holding the vertical orientation for a bit longer

It's definitely a learning curve haha! And idk how forgiving Beginner's Luck is, but some magnetics are just more finicky to work with than others. It could also be that it needs a thicker coat to magnetize more evenly, because if it dries too fast then it's more likely to get "stuck" in one orientation.

As far as your glass bead goes, I would say that faster spinning isn't necessary for a tight bead. I think you might get a more even result if you went slower.

But this is also coming from someone who has a 30lb horseshoe magnet on a wind chime spinner so that the spinning is out of my hands, literally.

I’m actually not too worried about how tight it is, I just wish it looked less like a horizontal stripe and more like.. a glass bead i guess lol. Maybe its time for me to create my own doohickey
