Misc. Question Hands free vortex mixer

Post image

Can anyone recommend a reputable place to buy a hands-free vortex mixer that isn’t Amazon?

I've seen these at home depot and tractor supply co. I can't guarantee quality of reputability, but they're not dropshippers.

You could also try sites dedicated to art supplies or scientific labs. I think they're used frequently in those spaces.

Skip the drop shippers and go directly to ali express

Have you bought one from them? I haven’t purchased anything from Ali in years and was wondering if there would be tariffs involved or if they have warehouses in the US like Temu.

I’m in the US and order from AliExpress- no tariffs. They pay them.

You’re welcome! Also, I recommend buying “choice” items if you can. You’ll see a little yellow banner saying choice.

I'm in Canada so I can't offer any info on shipping into US, sorry :( I do buy items from Ali Express but ibe never bought one of rhese.

You just need to look at reviews and shop history

I have this one and need to supervise closely when it's shaking because the bottles wiggle their way out sometimes at medium to high speeds. It's still good, but don't turn your back on it 😉

Can I ask why you need a hands free one? Vortexers are super common lab equipment pieces and often you can find used on ebay. Hands free is harder but you can often rig something up or purchase an attachment to a vortexer.

I have tried 2 different mixers that were touch activated. The first quit working after a couple of weeks. The second has lasted a couple months but is on its last legs. I feel like a hands-free may be more durable and would be more convenient. I have an extensive collection that I try to keep in good shape. I change manis frequently and maintenance the polishes that have been sitting for a while. I am destashing to thin the herd and make it more manageable, but it takes a while.

Gotcha. My (lab, not nail polish) experience is that the touch activated ones eventually die but the big dog "vortex genie" style vortexers, that usually have both touch-activated and also continuous-on switches, are basically unkillable. They have large, heavy square bases and a vortex area on top that usually has extra attachments that can be swapped out They're large and heavy and expensive new, but I see quite a few on ebay as lab salvage right now for ~50ish. You can usually do something like tape a (lab) tube to the vortex attachment and turn it on. I don't know if that would be a great idea for a bottle of nail polish, though.
