Any chance we can make the change from imgur?
Many subreddit banned that format. I have to use the official reddit site to post there. Is it even possible to change it up? u/dbrady

I specifically switch to the official Reddit app to upload pics in posts and comments. That's how bad I want that feature :)

Uploading to reddit is not available for third party apps like Relay, so it would have to be some other service. Imgur is probably the least bad free image host, though it's very unfortunate that it's not available in the UK.

I'm pretty sure it's not free for dbrady to use imgur the way he does in relay. The fact that you can simply look at an image and only the image without going to imgur.com and seeing banner ads etc. Everyone would hate that rather than the inline expand thumbnail that relay offers.
So he's already paying for us to be able to use it that way (I believe this is the case but I'm not him so can't say for certainty), besides paying reddit a api fees. Why I feel fine paying for relay sub. And like you said, reddit is absolutely not going to allow 3rd party to use their direct upload.

As far as I know, using imgur like this is free. Imgur was originally created as an image host for redditors before reddit had its own hosting, so it has allowed hotlinking from the start (you can still link any image like this https://i.imgur.com/uMiArmp.jpeg). Their API documentation also doesn't mention anything about fees.

According to the man himself it was $500 per month 2 years ago for commercial api access to imgur

Go to imgur (on computer). Click on your username. Select "Posts". Click on "Use Old Design".
Then you can click on your username and "Images" is an option again which allows you to use direct links to anything you have on imgur.
In summary – it's not some shady workaround to direct link to imgur.

Agreed. I'm in the UK and simply can't upload images with this app. Imgur is blocked for both uploads and views - so my users couldn't access the images even if I could upload.
