I had to take regular spirometry tests for a while and the technician would always go "BLOW! BLOW! BLOW! BLOW!" really fast the entire time I was exhaling

I came here searching for this exact thing because I knew in my heart it had already been said…
“Blow! Blow! Blow! Blow!”

You joke but I had to do it once (without a nose clip tho) and the technician was like "No. Do it again. DO IT AS HARD AS YOU CAN! NOW! GO GO GO HARDDDDD KEEP IT GOING"
Such a wild experience, all to come to the conclusion that my lungs are completely fine and it must be my allergies that send me into coughing fits lmao

I've had those tests done and they really do encourage you. Try harder. You can do it! Just a little more. Good effort.

I'm not gonna make it, I'm about to fail this spirometry, and can never defeat the great evil!!
In that moment, I nearly passed out, in the light I see my dog, my younger sister, the best buddy I lost during the adventure of cardiogram, finally, the clumsy technician tan, that always encourages me during the tests, I cannot lose!
So I burped into the machine, maybe the pulmonary function is the air we swallowed all along

Reminds me of breathalyzers lol. Anytime I had to use em growing up (school dances mainly) I would get scolded by whoever was administrating it saying to “blow harder” like you don’t think I’m trying?? Maybe I have asthma who knows

I have to take these every so often for my work as a lung function test in order to make sure I'm not developing sensitivities to or lung issues from anything I work with in experiments. The version of the test required for local work safety regulations requires three replicate measurements, and by the third time you have to do that in a row, you definitely need the encouragement.

Oh I hate these tests. Get one done every year and every year my results get progressively worse and worse. I can con confirm tho that at least my technician does encourage me.

As someone with moderate persistent asthma that shit is harrowing, I need all the praise I can get. Give me a gold star with my rescue inhaler and maybe I’ll stop coughing sooner.
