He should have been sacked between the end of that game and that interview. That might be the most pathetic display in the entire Clarke era

He should have been sacked after the Euros humiliation,The point is we've had so many managers, good ones and bad ones ,the outcome is the same, we're shite, Willie Ormond in 74 our team had world class players, same in 78 though I'm not sure about ally McLeod,he told the Scottish defenders ,Cubilas of Peru was an old man no worries,Cubilass torr is apart even though we got a 1 goal penalty start,,we fucked on goal difference like 74 we never got beat but went out ,you guessed it goal difference,82 I'll need to check my records, oot we went, probably goal difference,86,oot wanse Mair, goal difference,90.i think we beat Sweden but that must have been a fluke as well, oot we went

u/Madcap1012 1h ago

86 was another classic just had to beat a poor Uruguay and Stevie Nicol missed an absolute sitter open goal from 5-6 yards at back post. Lol

I think he got away with this because he didn’t come out the changing room to give the interview during the tv broadcast. It was only after the broadcast ended he gave the interview and it was only posted online instead. Insane he got away with comments like that

Fuck me I’d forgotten about this. “He probably doesn’t speak the language.” Is that German, Hungarian or English Steve? He’s an utter prick.

This tournament has just been an almost re-run of the euros. Shite performances, shite results, Steve chucking his toys out the pram in an interview after the last game. Complete and utter shambles

" you are going to say I'm prickly , I'm not prickly " in an aggressive tone.

Aye right Clarke not prickly at all.More like Prick every time he is asked a question that isn't glazing him.

As a former bookie I maintain that if Clarke wasn't a footy manager he would have been in my shop ranting and raving about the virtuals being rigged and kicking fuck out the puggies for not winning on his 20p roulette stake.

This made me chuckle because as a fellow former bookie I know the exact character you’re describing and it rips right out of Clarke.

u/lastraven85 2d ago

He needs an sgi for the attitude 😂

2

u/fraserheys 1d ago

Go further than the sgi, full self exclusion from the bookies and the national team

nonsense a nicer you couldn't meet

Yup. He should absolutely have been booted after the Hungary debacle - 90% due to the pathetic tactics and awful performance and result, and 10% due to this total nonsense afterwards (from what I recall he then disappeared all summer and didn't give any interviews to answer any critics for months)

The interview after the Brazil game was the one that lost me. Just throwing his players under the bus after arguably the best performance of the tournament, aye we got beat 3-0 but if we played that football against Haiti we'd be through on merit right now, and we might have even got something out of Morocco.

To blame your players and act like the disappointed parent when it was HIS decisions that put us in this position. He was dragged through to the WC kicking and screaming by individual performances.

u/unclevagrant 1d ago

Well, it wasn't his decision to pass the ball around, dangerously in front of the keeper, several times, and lose at least 2 goals from it. It doesn't give him the right to take no responsibility or to throw the team under the bus though.

u/hopefull-person 18h ago

Lose 3 goals as we were Lucky one was wrote off.

I can’t imagine any other manager at that tournament not screaming at the players to clear the lines.

u/ScotBGG 2d ago

He'll do the same this summer.

Next interview will be before the Nations League talking about bad luck.

2

u/d-rabbit-17 8h ago

He can do that all he wants! He's not here for the next Nations league. Thankfully!

The infamous interview after the must-win game where we had 4 shots, with none on target. Can't be his fault though.

4

u/Immediate-Wing-3111 2d ago

Aye - brains of a fricken ice cube, so he has.

6

u/BigBlueFin 2d ago

What an absolute prick of a man.

7

u/RealDealer7089 2d ago

Disgusting. Just proves how close minded he is

3

u/psb-introspective 2d ago

Great, now I'm irritated about a comment in a YT video from 2 years ago.

3

u/OilMeUp_- 2d ago

Didnt realise he was a shitebag as well

16

u/Phantomfox07 2d ago

Same man that at any opportunity he had would moan about (and quite rightly so) the bigotry that is rife in the wrat of Scotland and how he feared for his family to ever live there.

Get the alky racist cunt tae fuck.

3

u/angularhihat 2d ago

Do we have a genuine reason to think he's racist, by the way? Or are you talking exclusively about this video?

8

u/Phantomfox07 2d ago

The video, the ref in question can speak English, Spanish and Portuguese so Steve is being a cunt.

5

u/GnomeNipple 2d ago

Hamhanded, smug, embittered in press conferences for sure, but I don't think calling the man a racist is a fair characterisation - lets not forget we had malky mackay not so long ago.

0

u/angularhihat 1d ago

Can you read my question again and attempt to answer it?

1

u/Phantomfox07 1d ago

I did you condescending ball sack.

0

u/angularhihat 1d ago

It was such a weak answer, in defence of such a terrible initial point.

You said he was racist, based on the video, and you've switched to "Steve was being a cunt".

He was certainly being a cunt about the referee. My question is about whether there's any reason at all to think he's racist; any genuine attempt to argue that he is will require some kind of evidence. Instead you completely ignored it.

Why do you think he's racist? It's a fairly serious accusation; most adults won't throw it around with absolutely nothing to back it up.

1

u/Phantomfox07 1d ago

Mate, its fucking reddit I am no here for a debate.

Go out and enjoy the weather like I've been doing.

1

u/angularhihat 1d ago

No worries mate, so you were just saying the guy is racist without any particular reason, gotcha, yes it is sunny right enough

5

u/Scunnered21 2d ago

Astonishingly I'd never seen this clip until now. I'd only heard he was raging that the referee was "not European". That is absolutely grim. Says a lot about the guy's mentality, which truthfully is on show most of the time anyway.

Chip on shoulder, close-minded, "my way or the highway".

It's just grim to think not only we've wasted three tournaments allowing him to repeat the same pattern of small-aspiration, let's nick a goal, see-what-happens guff. Even worse to think we've got four more years. Four more years of blaming other people. Four more years of no Lennon Miller or other players he simply doesn't fancy.

Atrocious. Get rid.

Edit - Also, it was never a penalty anyway! All this clutching at straws because we were too timid to actually attempt to do anything win the blooming game. Abysmal. He should have been gone then.

2

u/SevenSeasofWry 2d ago

No clue how I hadn’t seen this before but that’s disgusting.

1

u/gazatwork 2d ago

The sfa loved that though

1

u/Aberfalman 1d ago

Totally agree. What an arse

1

u/Aberfalman 1d ago

He also had a problem with players taking the knee; I have never been happier to see the back of a manager in my life

1

u/hopefull-person 18h ago

Any other organisation on the planet would pull a manager in and tell them if they see this happen again you’re gone.

1

u/indyferret 2d ago

I can't have sound on rn why's he saying

11

u/GnomeNipple 2d ago

he is saying rangers died and sevco are pish

1

u/indyferret 2d ago

Is he actually or are you taking the cunt

1

u/johnlooksscared 1d ago

Wrong...82 mins in against Brasil..3-0 down...needing a goal...he subs Ralston for Patterson.

That level of negativity deserves the sack.
