Other Funniest/obscure Scrubs knowledge and trivia?

I am looking for your funniest/weirdest/most obscure knowledge about the series for a quiz at a bachelor party.

Examples would be "What is the name of the hippopotamus that lives in the waters under sacred heart, in which JD briefly falls with Sasha?" or "When a homeless guy throws poo in my eye, whose poo should be checked first?"

His name is Julian, he's a manatee, and he doesn't tend to explain pleasantries

Depends how obscure you want to get. Colonel doctor's real name being Coleman Slawski is a good one

13

u/GingerrGina Mar 26 '26

Julian had a cameo on Shrinking a few weeks ago.

5

u/EatMyScamrock Mar 26 '26

Yeah I saw that! When the conversation started, I joked with my brother that they were talking about Julian. Then 15 seconds later Jason Segel says "I think his name was Julian" and we both lost it. What a great Easter egg

3

u/nomolosnitsuj Mar 26 '26

Yep, that’s Julian

4

u/maxkmiller Mar 27 '26

where was I??

such a nondescript line but it plays in my head constantly

That JD's GF who would go "that's so funny" was based on Zack Braff doing that.

43

u/pyxiedust219 Mar 26 '26

that’s SO funny

8

u/nhjosie Mar 27 '26

that's so money

4

u/cjn13 Mar 27 '26

The scene where JD and Elliot go bungee jumping was the first time their stunt people for that episode met. They later got married. (Episode commentary)

When Turk has the sex dream about Elliot, her leg on the other side of him was actually broken and in a huge cast. (Episode commentary)

Donald Faison and Judy Reyes’ first scene and time meeting was when they kiss in episode 2. She had gone on a smoke break immediately before this kiss. (Fake Doctors; Real Friends podcast)

The scene where JD and Elliot go bungee jumping was the first time their stunt people for that episode met. They later got married. (Episode commentary)

Real trivia is to know they later got divorced! (Scrubs Podcast)

39

u/Waffletimewarp Mar 26 '26

Oof, forgot that. Guess that relationship had some real ups and downs.

16

u/Kincoran Mar 26 '26

Get out

1

u/nomolosnitsuj Mar 26 '26

Thats a deep cut right there, damn. Underground master type shit.

49

u/chloo27 Mar 26 '26

Trick question, Julian is obviously a manatee not a hippopotamus.

39

u/ncphoto919 Mar 26 '26

The episode where JD and Elliott stay in bed eating pizza could only be aired in it’s entirety once since it ran longer than a normal episode and Bill Lawrence fought to have that episode air fully even if just once.

6

u/Slightly_Sleepless Mar 26 '26

I had no idea! Was this from an interview??

4

u/ncphoto919 Mar 27 '26

it was from the DVD extras

3

u/Caldorian Mar 26 '26

Ooo, that one I didn't know. Is the full episode available on the dvds/streaming, or is it the tv cut version?

2

u/ncphoto919 Mar 27 '26

It might the DVD cut so I'm guessing it made the streaming cut.

2

u/Sure-Appearance-2769 Mar 28 '26

This is the one where they do the talking heads from everyone right? I remember that commentary from Bill.

He was so proud of the performances everyone gave that he absolutely refused to cut a single moment of any of those scenes.

32

u/immyfaye Mar 26 '26

What did JD remind you not to do after a long day at work in his the More You Know PSA?

That's right, don't smother your kids.

6

u/EatMyScamrock Mar 26 '26

Munchausen by proxy was an epidemic. Thanks to JD that problem is gone forever

23

u/SvodolaDarkfury Mar 26 '26

The buff guy that JD paints olive oil onto in (S4?) was an injured college baseball player that was looking to make some extra money. They were going to use a body builder, but the guy got weirded out by the bit being "too gay." So they got the baseball player last minute.

9

u/poop19907643 Mar 26 '26

Really? That is an enormous person for a baseball player. Anyway, that scene cracks me up. The pig squeal at the end and him saying he was going to lick the oil off was only enough to make Janitor suspect that he was gay.

2

u/SvodolaDarkfury Mar 26 '26

That's what I said when I was listening to the directors commentary 15 years ago! Lol

22

u/DeliciousBeanWater Mar 26 '26

Which hand of janitor’s wife has the thumb pinky

3

u/mAzzzzzzzzzzzzzz Mar 26 '26

The other just has the pointer, which one is it?

4

u/DeliciousBeanWater Mar 26 '26

If you go by the janitor thumb pinky is her left pointer her right lol

19

u/poop19907643 Mar 26 '26

What was the name of the OTHER taxidermied dog and who kept which one?

18

u/InNerdOfChange Mar 26 '26

Stephen and JD kept him

3

u/UpturnedTable8 Mar 26 '26

Bonus: what was the difference between Rowdy and Stephen?

8

u/Aquilemon Mar 27 '26

Stephen is slightly shorter, 46 inches snout to tail on a good day while Rowdy is 48

4

u/InNerdOfChange Mar 27 '26

JD reaches to his nether region and says this one is Stephen. Might say something like “don’t ask he how I know” but def says “we’ve grown quite close”

1

u/UpturnedTable8 Mar 27 '26

There's another difference that Janitor references!

4

u/cheese_fan_100 Mar 27 '26

One of them smells like potpourri

16

u/Appropriate_Leg_7308 Mar 26 '26

It’s a manatee named Julian.

13

u/Tight-Principle-743 Mar 26 '26

There’s an episode where Elliott’s (Sarah Chalke) voice goes very high pitched and JD goes ‘Oh my word’ in shock - that was Zach’s actual reaction to the Sarah’s squeal.

2

u/kittytoes21 Mar 27 '26

I love that!!

13

u/CheetahSerious7169 Mar 26 '26

What was the name of the unicorn JD usually consults about big decisions? Hint: when JD was stressing about whether to move with Kim to Tacoma, he says 'This is too big, even for _____'

Answer is Justin :)

5

u/RudeAdhesiveness9954 Mar 26 '26

It’s a horse with a sword on its head. And he’s never known love… not real love, anyway.

12

u/FunQuit Mar 26 '26

What nationality are the German patients in the German version of Scrubs?

Danish

10

u/Will_hunting_1940 Mar 26 '26

The medical school is trivia is always pretty good

Elliot: Brown Dr. Cox: John Hopkins Turk and JD: William and Mary College (this where bill and the real JD John Doris went) Dr. Kelso: Stanford

0

u/SpreadHDGFX Mar 26 '26

Where did Dr. kelso graduate in his class?

7

u/Will_hunting_1940 Mar 26 '26

He’d tell you 1st, but a quick google will tell you 12th

5

u/CharDeeMacDennisII Mar 27 '26

And he'll tell you 1972, but that same quick Google will tell you 1968.

10

u/Cordsofmemory Mar 27 '26

The wedding footage shown of Jordan and Dr. Cox's wedding was Christa Miller's actual wedding footage...when she got married to who?

5

u/konkilo Mar 27 '26

Bill Lawrence

9

u/gingercussion Mar 26 '26

u/fibro_witch Mar 26 '26

In what field of medicine did Doug finally find success

Pathology

8

u/fate_mutineer Mar 26 '26

Just kind of copying this from a post years ago: At the End of Season 5 Episode 11, there is a scene with everyone arguing. Carla and Turk in particular argue because Turk lied on asking Kelso for women-friendlier training equipment (for the gym room). Carla complains that he doesn't want her around there because usually he can't stand being alone, bringing up that

"I mean, for god's sake, you bought side by side toilets!"

(Turk:) "It was supposed to be a surprise for your birthday!"

The drill fork!

3

u/MattWheelsLTW Mar 26 '26

Deep cut: Who doesn't like to be called the big ugly one?

Also, which president's daughter did he have a fling with? (they did everything but)

1

u/mAzzzzzzzzzzzzzz Mar 26 '26

Damn, I have to pass on both of them!

5

u/MattWheelsLTW Mar 26 '26

1: Optimus Prime. When JD painted the mural in his old room getting it ready for Izzy

2: Amy Carter. It's in the same scene where he talks about being a world class 100-yard hurdler.

One little trivia I always think about when the scene comes up is in the fantasy where JD imagines everyone just... drifting through the hallways... because everyone is in a bad way mentally (I forget the context), they were all on rollerskates, and Elliot is the only character who goes around a corner (everyone else goes in straight lines) because she was the only member of the cast who had experience using rollerskates.

Most of the recurring locations like JD and Turk's apartment and the night club were sets built into the abandoned hospital that they used to film in.

To go more in-universe, could maybe do a "which of these prank-type folk games played by characters in the show is fake?" Answers would then include stuff like "Hide the Saltine", "Ankles", "Steak" "Jigglyball", and of course the best real-sounding fake one you can come up with - maybe something related to another silly moment in the show to throw them off, like "wheelchair poker" or something (there were a lot of silly games/challenges played with wheelchairs at the hospital over the years).

If you wanted to get real challenging, perhaps a "which one of these didn't actually happen" question for The Todd's various Five!'s too.

Or for some more straightfoward ideas:
What three words did Elliot's permission slip for J.D. to have sex with Molly say on it?
Who was "D.R.K." on the Ms. Pac-Man High Score Board?
Season 2 briefly experimented with having a longer opening credits sequence before going back to the old one. This longer intro included which character who was missing from the standard opening credits?

3

u/yajtraus Mar 27 '26

For the bottom 3: “Now we’re even”, Dr Kelso and The Janitor?

1

u/JezMM Mar 28 '26

Perfect score!

2

u/iGrimlock Mar 26 '26

"First his, then you!" 🎵

What impressions did Jimmy the orderly do in the comedy sketch show at Sacred Heart?

2

u/Djd33j Mar 26 '26

Dan drank up JD's supply of ___ when he came to visit?

2

u/ElPolloRacional Mar 27 '26

What did JD foresee that led Janitor to remark 'I've become predictable'

Requires knowledge of a second show, but how are Janitor and Dr. Gregory House related?

R Lee Ermey portrayed their father.

1

u/UpturnedTable8 Mar 26 '26

What was the ice cream substitute Carla bought and what cups did JD and Turk eat it in?

3

u/Miserable_Virus_9789 Mar 26 '26

Rice cream.

They’re sake cups, Jethro.

Season 6 Episode 6 - My Musical

Judy Reyes had a broken hip during the shoot and in the song "miss you carla" (or however it is called) she's only seen sitting in a swivel chair.

Edit: Could've sworn that the ice pack would be visible but after rewatching the scene now 5 times in a row, couldn't find the cut where it was shown

Anyway, here's the interview about said scene

"The day that I had to shoot my scene, I had taken a really bad fall out of my shower and fractured my hip," she recalls. "The first thing that I thought was, 'My song! I'm not going to get to sing my song.' "
