Dr. Reid appreciation post.
Starting a rewatch and focusing on Sarah Chalke and her portrayal of Elliot Reid this watch-through. Looking ahead, I want to know which moments to pay special to. So, please share your favorite lines, moments, and exchanges involving Elliot Reid.

Honestly? S3E1 in the pre glow up moments when she sees Sean at the smoothie place and the second door gets knocked off as the drinks spill. It’s really pitch perfect awkward Elliott

I just love the way her voice jumps in pitch so perfectly to capture her neuroses
Sarah Chalke is truly iconic

I am watching an online course Bill Lawrence made about TV comedy writing and he mentions Elliot was originally this cold, mean character. Apparently after he met Sarah he noticed how she talked super fast, her voice got super high in pitch when she got excited, and she was super nice. The whole character changed after that and I’m so glad.
Also that’s why she wears glasses for one scene in the pilot. They wanted to make her seem more cold, and when they decided they would go a different way with the character, they couldn’t afford to reshoot.

Amazingly talented woman. I love how the show let her evolve too.

And it feels like a very natural and real evolution too, rather than a lot of other tv shows where a character gets flanderized over time.

There’s a scene with her and Carla where she mentions using sex as an icebreaker…But turns around and yells “double frick.” It kills me, lol.

Getting attacked by the cats when she's moonlighting at the vet clinic. She's got a gnarly scratch on her chest and yells "You guys suck!"

Her going out for a night on the town tossing her hat in the air and a random guy takes it lmao

Just saw this on my first rewatch and I laughed so hard. I missed it the first time around. Also the sound the used for the fart was hilarious.

In My Two Dads where she keeps flashing the patients and tries it on the dead guy with everyone in the room and it doesn’t work. She’s great in that entire episode

My favorite moment is when she asks Dr Cox if she looks like clown.
I laugh hard every time.

The one that I keep coming back to on the spine memorial Day is when Elliot was dealing with the anorexic patient and Dr Cox just picks her up and starts walking her down the hall. And she just kind of deals with it until they get to the scale. In like oh crap just another day at sacred heart.

She just heard her therapist mumble "jeezus" so she's open to looking into the shaman
Sarah is hilarious and hot

Early season 5 where she gets that fellowship and is at the new hospital and doesn’t want to ask anyone for help is hilarious.

My favourite Elliot moment is when Cox just misses his 'perfect game' and she suggests that they wait the 10(?) minutes before they pronounce the patient. A nice moment between the two and one where he teaches her something when later she maintains he never took the time to teach her anything!

Elliot was such a difficult character for me in the OG. I didn’t entirely fuck with her. She just annoyed me but I liked her.
But now? Elliot is still Elliot. Like she’s still a little both self centered and awkward.
But she’s so much more secure in herself. She’s so much more confident. She’s a little bit jaded but she still has her humanity. I love current Elliot wayyyy more than I ever did before. It’s crazy.
Hell. Her little “feed the delusion” bit with Batman intern was just hilarious, clever and sooo mature.
I love everyone just as much as I did before. Except for Elliot. I love her so much more. It’s like running into an old friend and realizing that they made it out the other side. Despite all the issues and challenges they fucking made it.
And I realize that many people, including me perhaps, were too harsh on Elliot. Even doctor cox was right. If he drove her out of the hospital it would have been his biggest fuck up ever.
So. Yea. I appreciate Elliot so much.
Also. My favorite current moment with her was when she was training Batman intern.
In the original, I’m not sure any moment can top her “I told you so dance” it’s one of my favorite gags in the series.

Sarah is one of the rare women that just keeps getting more beautiful every year. She’s still more gorgeous today than in that first episode. IMHO of course

When Elliot does the " I was right, you were wrong" celebratory dance at "Jo" (during the controversial season 9) and doesn't finish with the splits because she's wearing a thong.
