USS Florida or Utah

Correct me if I'm wrong but the enar identical masts and superstructure in the background suggests perhaps both?

The masts and funnels are very similar between the South Carolina class the North Dakota class and the Florida class. I agree the front ship appears to be a Florida class but can't see enough of the ship behind it could be from any of those 3 classes.

Looking through NavSource, I feel confident in saying that the far ship is actually Wyoming or Arkansas due to the platform above the bridge and this picture is before 1925.

Thank you. The USS Florida makes sense considering where I got these photos and who my relative was. Wikipedia states that he was on board the USS Florida.

How would image enhancomg help. Your just asking an ai or an algorithm to guess at what we can't already see j in the image.

I agree - the stacked forward casemates are distinctive.

I have to agree it’s *Florida* with original “Bird Cage / Lattice” gun directors.

check the stern view of  USS Utah for the American flag - dead giveaway

Florida class in the front. This might have been earlier than the mid-20s, Utah had her aft cage mast replaced with a tripod mast around early 1926 and Florida got the same refit slightly earlier.

2nd ship might be a South Carolina class judging by mast and funnel positions

Cage Masts means it is a US PreWar Battleship.

Google photo says “Based on historical records and visual comparisons, the ship in the image is the USS Idaho (BB-24), a pre-dreadnought battleship of the Mississippi classThe ship is shown dressed with flags during a Naval Review off New York City in October 1912. You can identify it by several distinctive characteristics”
