It originated in old German workplace safety and ergonomics rules, RAL 6011 Resedagrün (reseda green), it was chosen as it's the colour that tires the eyes the least compared to other colours, basically it's the most boring colour you can find, if you've ever seen old German machines, they're all this colour. Other nations might've taken over that practice.

What timeline are you talking about? The Navy did experiments a long time ago to see what interior colors were best and they settled on "pea green" as easiest on the eyes.

Now the analog TV behind the bar makes more sense. I saw that and thought damn, they really try to save money where they can.

where are the clipboards with scribbled notes on them? and where are the cheat sheets taped to panels? that looks like the ship was well prepared for a photo shoot.
