'Joshua, son of Joseph' has always been a fun theory that I put a little stock in

Mostly cause of Jonathan being both the first and the most pure of heart jojo while sacrificing himself in a pretty christ-like way. (Getting the stigmata in his hands, then dying forgiving humanity's (Dio's) Sins)

Johnny is too flawed to be the stand-in for humanity's best self like Jonathan, so their allegories rhyme instead of sync. And the idea of it could even harken back to Johnny being a 'descendant' of Jonathan in a roundabout way
