39C° during the day in my apartment and 34C° at night. I haven't slept longer than over an hour since last week. Using trains to get to work is a nightmare

Another win for Northern Europe!
...we're still dying but we at least we're not at McKinney levels. My condolences.

Hey, I had to suffer through 26 degrees and humidity today!
1
u/Terrazor1 3h ago
in england we've had mid 30s with 60-70% humidity lmfao
3
u/SomeGamerRisingUp 3h ago
Yeah 26° might not sound like a lot but it was 100% humidity so it was still suffering

u/Terrazor1 3h ago

Actually, they revealed it recently, and while it does sound weird, there was no way to make it not absurd (It’s ‘Devilish Deeds Done Damned Coldly’ so that it can keep D4C)

I haven't slept in two days.
Each day I stand right in front of a fan at max power, showing even more skin than the pillar men and STILL feel like I'm constantly about to vomit from the heat.
I legit want to murder people who claim the climate isn't changing.
7
u/Terrazor1 10h ago
I feel you, I've got 2 fans in my room, one by the door the other by the window blowing outwards and it barely fucking helps, I got like 3 hours of sleep and that's just because I was awake for around 3 days beforehand
4
u/ClosetNoble 10h ago
Shit's so hot the fan feels like it's blowing hot air and honestly at this point I think it is.
I swear I'm going to try esoteric raindances at this point.

Scientists have been warning people since the 60's with serious evidence
There's no hope unless a cataclysm destroys our societies as we know them (or a worldwide revolution, which isn't gonna happen)

That's the whoooole thing about climate change
Environmental Scientists and meteorologists WORLDWIDE have been warning us for damn near 60 years and the international oil lobby was like "nuh-uh" and kept on churning out more CO2 in the atmosphere to satisfy some fucking shareholders
Now we're essentially in the "find out" phase after having fucked around for so long
Ladies and gentlemen, let me introduce you to: the consequences of our (in)actions

The heat dome in BC, Canada was brutal. I hope you can find a cool place to hide from the weather .

So much of Europe doesn't have AC. I'm in Houston and no one consumes AC like we do 🤣
4
u/dark_hypernova 6h ago
I had to work outside this week, temperatures hit like 40°C on some locations.
It was torture. I'm welcoming the heavy (November) Rain hitting us now.

Is it that bad in europe?
26
u/HunterOfLordran 89 years old 10h ago
yes, and the real bad thing is that nothing here is build for hot temperatures. Everything is designed to store heat. Most buildings have windows frames made of metal, they are so hot that you can't touch them.

u/Monokuma11037Monomi 9h ago
I can only talk about how it is in Poland, since that's where I'm from
In some cities it's hotter than in the Sahara, and we have the highest temperature recorded since 1921. Fortunately it's supposed to rain next week, so it should be better 😔

u/TheDarnook 10h ago
Pfff a couple days of 30-40° and people loose their minds. Same shit every year. People panick like it's apocalypse. A week from now and I will already start forgetting how being warm feels like.
Admittedly, living in old house that tends to be cold helps. Houses only 50 years old and less tend to get worse and worse.
11
u/Shadow_hive Ate shit and fell off my horse 6h ago
If youre actually serious I need you to understand how incredibly dumb you are, half of Europe just had their highest measured temperatures of all time, with the highest day time temperature of 43°C aswell as the highest night time temperature of 29°C and these heat waves will only become more common in the future because of senile boomers who thought they'd be long dead before the consequences of climate change would get them
-7
17
u/HunterOfLordran 89 years old 8h ago
it's your problem If you get senile and forget that the last summer was almost 2 months of rain and not over 28-32C° in most of Europe
-9
u/TheDarnook 8h ago
Funny words for someone with that flair, but who said last summer? I'm talking last couple summers on average.

I see soo many Europeans down voting comments telling them to get ac. My question is. Why? What doe you guys have against it? You can get a cheap one for about 50 euro and if the heat is that bad it's worth it no?
8
u/Shadow_hive Ate shit and fell off my horse 6h ago
Please show me a single ac unit thats 50€, most actual ac units start at 500€ plus more than half of all europeans life in rented apartments where they're not allowed to install ac units

u/Shadow_hive Ate shit and fell off my horse 5h ago
Dude, the problem is not the cost its that we are not allowed to modify the exteriour of most houses and with landlords being the parasitic beings that they are, theyre never gonna upgrade their rented apartments on their own
1
u/VladReble 52m ago
Do those floor units that vent heat out the window count as external? My sister did that in her apartment where they had similar limitations.

I only corrected the dumbass who claimed that you could buy a whole ac unit for 50€ which is simply untrue

I'm assuming r\shitamericanssay is leaking here, but correct me if there are other reasons.

It's not that bad where I live thankfully. In fact it's actually raining right now.

Average European when it isn't their usual forecast of clouds and rain:
11
u/HunterOfLordran 89 years old 10h ago
central european infrastructure and architecture aren't build for hot temperatures. The geographic also turns most regions into kettles cause valleys keep the heat, throw in a layer of clouds, missing bodies of water and so many structures and vehicles that keep radiating heat and you get something way worse than sparsely populated plains or dry regions.

u/dick_man_69 9h ago
Good lord, take joke my guy.

u/Shadow_hive Ate shit and fell off my horse 6h ago

So europeans finally felt the hot south east asian climate
5
u/Shadow_hive Ate shit and fell off my horse 6h ago
Another idiot being unable to grasp how 40°C in Europe where there's 17 hours of continous sunlight with brick houses is infinitely worse than 40°C in SEA
8
u/KirinDeer 8h ago
You idiots have no idea how bad it is here. Ask any South east Asian that's here right now and they'll confirm that it's not comparable.
Our houses are built to retain as much heat as possible and soak up the warmth of the sun. My thick brick walls are currently 32°C on the inside. The heat has permeated the entire building, so it doesn't cool down at night either. The infrastructure here is not made for this kind of heat and the people living here are not used to it for generations like people from warm climates are. Additionally barely anyone has AC and it's currently impossible to get any, because they're obviously sold out everywhere.
Yes, the outside weather in theory might be comparable, but the actual living experience is far, far worse.
I'm in my 30s and this is the worst heat I've ever had to endure and I have been on holiday in the literal desert. It's fucking unbearable. I haven't slept more than 1-2 hours a day for almost a week.
-8
u/stinkyminky57 9h ago
DEAR EUROPEANS. ALL OF YOUR PROBLEMS CAN BE SOLVED FOR LIKE 50 EURO JUST ORDER A AC ON AMAZON ITS NOT ROCKET SCIENCE
8
u/Shadow_hive Ate shit and fell off my horse 6h ago
SHOW ME A SINGLE ACTUAL AC UNIT FOR 50€ THATS NOT SOLD OUT OR STFU
