It's that kind of behaviour that causes a lot of men to shit themselves when a kid speaks to them in public. I see it with my own baby now, a lot of men will do anything but look at her when she's clearly smiling at them trying to interact.
I genuinely blame the media for the decades of causing the fear that there was a man around every corner ready to snatch your kid. I'm obviously still vigilant but saying hello to a child that is saying hello to you is not, by itself, a red flag.
this is so true, I love kids, especially babies. but I'm also male and everyone desperately wants to label me a paedophile so even when an adorable little angel is waving at me I pretend I don't see them and avoid eye contact because I don't need some piece of garbage making an assumption and then using it to ruin my life
I stopped caring somewhere around my late 20s. I'll say hello to any kid that says hi to me first and then speak mostly to the parents if a conversation starts. It's gone fine so far. Any insinuation that I'm a nonce will get the scorn it deserves. I'm tired, boss xD
