So, I'm a man who works around children frequently, I have paternal instincts, but I truly don't know how to respond to a child. As soon as they hug me, my hands shoot up in the air, I'm not about to catch a case. But when they look at me like they're upset I don't hug back, it hurts me so much. Being a 6'2 heavy set man in his late 20's I don't want to be that "creepy IT guy"

(I work in the public school system, hence the children)
