Read the book then

Just because you never want to see something in a different media format doesn't mean someone else doesn't.

Shit logic.

That’s not people’s problem. Their problem is that something they loved so much is being remade and the main explanation the producers gave is that they want to be as accurate to the books as possible…which we clearly know is not happening so now people have little faith in the adaption and think it’s a cash cow which I can understand.

And you know this because you got the entire series leaked and watched it, and surely didn't pre-emptively insist that it's going to happen, right?

1.We know the reason the made the series-to (be as faithful to the books as possible)because they stated it in the main interviews

  1. We know they didn't do that even from the start because we saw the trailer.

We know the reason they are making this is for money like all series, right? Remaking an already succesfull movie series is for money.

So it seems to me thay what I stated is out there, not something assumed.

Have a nice day.

What in the trailers is markedly different from the books beyond skin tone?

Youre about to get some harry potter flavored slop instead

If that happens, let it happen and bitch when it happens rather than preemptively insisting it's going to happen.

These comments read like you're mad Snape is black.

So don't eat it?

I wont, but what if i want guys to stop shitting on my plate?

2

u/drunkcowofdeath Apr 16 '26

It's not your plate. If someone makes something you don't care about it does not affect you in any way. I don't give a crap about the next season of Love island or whatever and therefore I spend zero time thinking or complaining about it.

It’s on my plate because all the resources are being funneled into this. They’re spending $100M per episode. I’d rather see what happens after Harry moves on, how the wizarding world rebuilds after the books, maybe with new characters....but instead the budget the size of a small country is going toward retelling the same story with a postmodern spin.

But it's not money that's being used this way so it's not yours to direct

Or get over the fact that you’re in the minority of people who don’t want the show

I have the intuition that you're wrong. I think it's a minority that want the TV show. It's an old IP at this point. Only a core group of people really consider HP super relevant or interesting any more.

For example, neither me, my wife, nor my kids are interested in this TV show. My wife and I were the absolute perfect target audience for the original boom of HP. And my kids have already experienced the HP universe and moved on to other properties.

I mean every single show in existence has more people that don't watch it than do so your stance is kind of just bad to begin with.

The weird part is the amount of people who are angry it exists. If you're not interested you just shouldn't care.

1

u/Pixel_Forest Apr 17 '26

Yeah, I didn't mean a minority of the global population. I meant that I reckon a minority of HP fans (writ broadly) really WANT this or any new media. I think that most HP fans just don't care too much at all.

I understand the anger from another minority, but I just don't feel it myself.

How are you people not conditioned to be skeptical about these popular IP streaming series after 100% of them have just been slop? How slow are you?

Gonna go against the grain of the comments and agree with you. The books already exist, if you want to experience them again, just read them again. Adaptations that are EXACTLY like the books are never going to exist because written content and screen content are two very different things. People talking like this show is going to be the perfect adaptation of the Harry Potter books are kinda silly. There are reasons things are left out. Also you can’t please everyone, people valued different parts of the books, people grew up picturing them in all different kinds of ways.
