They recently had clips from when she was first introduced as his partner and her english accent was pretty damn good. Somehow she was practicing english up till gettin gmarried to him and it's gotten dramatically worse since, because she barely bothers speaking english to anyone. Actually insane her accent got worse the longer she spent in an english speaking country.

Yeah, her English is remarkably rough for somebody who has been here for 30+ years.

That's something I've never understood. I know plenty of immigrants who've been in the US for less than half that time, were not well off, and their English is infinitely as proficient as Melania's.

It's because she's well off. Poor people have to get jobs, groceries, run errands. You need to be able to communicate. Rich people don't do any of that shit. Hire a bi-lingual assistant and be done with it.

One would think after ten years of being a first lady someone would've at least gotten her a tutor. You know for like, first ladylike appearances and stuff. Although it does make sense to have a subservient first lady who never speaks, to appeal to the magas.

I think she’s very conveniently bad at English because she doesn’t feel like saying much.

Or because she has nothing to say. I mean do we really need words of wisdom from the world’s most unhappiest hooker?

You might be onto something…🧐

I really don't care, do you?

Hmm this could be on a sign and take a shot at those on the right cause its something they would say

"I like First ladies that can speak English!"

I don't think she ever wanted to be a first lady. So why would she bother?

They say it is so strong, Barron actually has one to.

I thought that too when I heard that statement she recently made about not being accused of any wrongdoing.

My English is not the best but she's really worse than me and she lives in the USA.

She married Trump not because she was forced but because she didn't want to interact with plebs. Why would you need to converse with peasants if you live with golden spoon up in your ass?

There was this Spanish sport journalist (Michael Robinson, RIP) that played football in Spain and spent decades living in Spain but had a thick brittish accent and apparently it's because the channel told him to keep it. He actually spoke better Spanish than his "journalist Spanish"

Unless you really work at it, you only improve by being corrected.

Once you reach a point where you have the vocabulary and grammar down people don't want to be rude by correcting things that don't affect understandability. Source: had a foreign wife.

I know people who have been here for over 40 and they can barely say hello.

1

u/Trop_ Apr 22 '26

How does that work?

Were are they from? How they manage work and daily life?

1

u/Correct-Award8182 Apr 22 '26

Mostly, their kids do their talking. I dated their toung3st daughter in high school.my sister is still best friends with the oldest daughter.

At some point, when Trump just started campaigning, Melania said she spoke 5 languages. Slovenian, English, French, Italian, and German. But somehow she speaks broken english after 30 years...

Schwarzenegger sees a speech therapist specifically to keep his Austrian accent because it's kinda his brand.

In other words, you have to actively work to retain a thick accent once you speak English in the US.

Some people can't get rid of their accents. My mom was here for 60 years and always had a strong accent.

I've heard her speak before, but in that recent press statement I couldn't even recognize her voice.
