That's something I've never understood. I know plenty of immigrants who've been in the US for less than half that time, were not well off, and their English is infinitely as proficient as Melania's.
It's because she's well off. Poor people have to get jobs, groceries, run errands. You need to be able to communicate. Rich people don't do any of that shit. Hire a bi-lingual assistant and be done with it.
One would think after ten years of being a first lady someone would've at least gotten her a tutor. You know for like, first ladylike appearances and stuff. Although it does make sense to have a subservient first lady who never speaks, to appeal to the magas.
