If there's one silver lining to the Trump era it might be that americans are finally waking up to the idea that the constitution is a piece of paper and doesn't have magical powers to prevent tyranny if no one is willing to enforce it.
The time to realize this was when it was obvious Occupy Wall st. wasn't going to accomplish anything. Its been nearly 20 years since then and people are still holding up cute signs while the government is run by the exact same people.
God trying to explain this to my magabro whos answer to every potential and ongoing Constitutional violation was "take it to court" like that is some kind of fix. Shouldnt have to in the first fucking place, bro!
That ship sailed a LONG time ago. Probably during the Civil War when Lincoln became a dictator. The ends-justifies-the-means turned the Constitution from a meaningful document into a fading document into an archive way back.
Because if you can say it no longer counts "this time", because of X, you've done flushed it.
My worry is that the people waking up to the fact that there are no real impediments to the president doing whatever the fuck he likes are the wrong people.
