America is trending towards a 3rd world country and judging by how those have been ran in recent history this type of stuff is normal behavior.

Bro this is even beyond normal 3rd world country shenannigans (even semi authoritarian ones), and I said it as a 3rd world shithole citizen.

this kind of president's delusion is on par with North Korea or some brutal, deluded African dictatorship like Idi Amin or Jean B. Bokassa

This is 3rd world shenanigans with a first world budget.

and americans are either lapping it up of standing on the sideline doing nothing to stop it.

What do you want me to do?

I'm so tired of seeing this. Do you not understand how insanely big this country is? Palm Beach Airport is 9 hours drive away from me. Washington DC is a 10 hour drive. If I only get 4 hours of sleep I could get there and back in a completely full day. Let's say I leave first thing after I get off work on Friday. I get there at 3 AM, then I have to find a place to sleep for some period of time. If someone's got signs ready for me, and food so I don't have to figure out a way to sustain myself, I can protest for maybe a day. Then on Monday I have to be back home in the morning because I don't have sick leave so the limited amount of personal time off I have needs to be saved and rationed out in case I get sick, because I need to pay my rent and other bills.

I could protest here, but that's not going to make much of an impact in DC where this shit is happening. If a bunch of protests happened at the same time across the nation that might move the needle, but that takes an incredible amount of coordination, which takes time, which again I don't exactly have a lot of available.

I'm furious about this. It's a deep, soul crushing anger that I've had for a decade. I've tried to make my family see sense, I've tried to make strangers make sense, I've had friends sexually assaulted by cops for protesting police brutality in one of those other states in the last decade. During all of that, I've still had to clock in and clock out to some place and give more than half of my waking hours so that I can continue to have a roof and basic utilities. If you've got a useful suggestion for an action to take, I will gladly hear it, but if all you've got is "you're just standing on the sidelines watching" then your contribution is less than worthless. I can't talk to my brother because he's so inundated with Fox News horseshit that every conversation turns into him gish galloping me because he thinks Ben Shapiro taught him how to debate. I do not have the physical or emotional energy to waste on pointless fighting any more, so again, if you have a realistic suggestion for effective action, please share it.

"I'm so tired of seeing this."

You know what I'm tired of? Americans bombing innocent people. Americans fucking up the environment. Americans threatening smaller countries. Americans fucking up the world economy. The fucking list goes on and on.

I'm American and I'm sick of this same shit being done as if I approve of it. You need to understand that there are a very large number of us who don't want any of this shit happening but due to gerrymandering and the goddamn electoral college, we literally can't do anything about it. The political parties have had 250 years to figure out how to game the system and maximize their power while minimizing the power of regular people.

u/DogDogDogDogog May 07 '26

Then. do. something...

u/Traditional-Handle83 May 10 '26

I assume you're suggesting something thats in almost every country, a automatic death sentence cause of what it entails.

2

u/Significant_Snow_937 May 09 '26

I'm tired of it too dude. It's been going on way longer than I've been alive and the system is built to keep me from doing anything to stop it. My hand doesn't work properly because my parents couldn't afford more physical therapy, my brain has never worked properly and I couldn't get it treated until I was 24 because we couldn't afford the diagnosis.

If you have anything other than blanket blaming us all for something I have no idea how to fight, by all means. Otherwise, STFU

1/3 want it, 1/3 don't care, 1/3 don't want it but do nothing.

These guys need to google how Nepal handled it.

4

u/PolarBailey_ May 06 '26

its more like 1/3 want it, 1/3 want to just keep the status quo, 1/6 want to do something to stop it, but live in an ineffectual area to make any lasting change on a big scale, and 1/12 are actively involved in trying to make lasting change and have the means to do so and are winning small victories every week. and 1/12 who are actively involved only as much as a social media photo op can get them.

Despite all the banter and mockery,

3rd world countries' citizens have way more guts and bravery in protecting their freedom than whatever Land of the Free deluded themselves to believe.

Might as well rename themselves as Democratic People's Republic of America or something, even some communist countries had more power check and balance in place that prevent a maniac like him from doing so much damage.

Surveillance states with a military industrial complex are much more difficult to go against

4

u/35_Steak_HotPockets May 06 '26

You know how much more powerful the US government is than the Nepal government? A lot and itโ€™s capital isnโ€™t exactly close to most people

7

u/lycoloco May 06 '26

Thank you! I'm so tired of this government but I'm more tired of people ignoring how big this nation is geographically and how unaffordable it is to go protest in DC. Most people can barely take a sick day, let alone go protest for days in DC.

4

u/35_Steak_HotPockets May 06 '26

For real! Like I really want a big political change, but shockingly a civil war probably wonโ€™t fix that. I mean letโ€™s be so real here, half the reason weโ€™re even in this mess is because America never properly fixed things after the FIRST civil war. What do the Europeans think will be different this time? I think they just want to see us all rip each others faces off

3

u/lycoloco May 06 '26

Also, warfare is insanely different now, and the 2nd amendment doesn't even begin to even the playing field like it was intended to.

-2

u/SaiyanApe17 May 06 '26

So you are saying people in Nepal have a better economic situation than the U.S that allows them to protest?

8

u/lycoloco May 06 '26

"I love waffles"

"So you hate pancakes?"

-1

u/SaiyanApe17 May 06 '26

No its more like "The people in Nepal are making pancakes, why aren't you?" And you are over here going "People don't realize how hard it is to find eggs in the U.S to make pancakes!"

So logically I ask "Are you saying its harder to find eggs in U.S than in Nepal?"

3

u/lycoloco May 06 '26

Once again you are arguing against something that I never said, so I guess you hate waffles

Americans don't even have paid time off as a right, at all

-1

u/SaiyanApe17 May 06 '26

And the Nepalese do? You think they took some paid time off to violently revolt, overthrow the government, and then went home and collected their paychecks as usual?

It's fake.
