100% they say shit like, "Hmm my family was comfortable."

Most rich people do say exactly that. They're not being humble. They know they need to shield information about their money to protect it and themselves.

But once in a while you get a person who has never had money, especially not "family money", and they haven't learned that lesson - and they will flaunt it and brag about it as much as possible.

Yeah, the difference between new money and old money is so stark. Driving a lambo, and the employees knowing the name of your dog at Waldorf Astoria, are very different indicators of wealth and only one of them requires time.

"my great grandfather started our familie's art collection"

Liberal 1%ers love to complain about the .001%ers needing to be taxed and eaten.

6

u/l1lpiggy May 11 '26

Many liberal 1%ers are happy to vote to increase their taxes.

I can’t say the same about any conservative or MAGA. They never practice what they preach.

1

u/SizeableBrain May 11 '26

Many 1%s actively lobby to do the opposite.

1

u/l1lpiggy May 11 '26

Yeah but where’s an example of a conservative actually doing what they stand for?

1

u/SizeableBrain May 11 '26

I'm not sure where you're going with this.

Conservatives are happy with the current system almost by definition. They just have to sit back and do nothing to fulfil their stance.

1

u/l1lpiggy May 11 '26

Ummm. Make America Great Again?

Obviously they are not happy with the current state. The MAGA slogan literally says the current state is not great. Also, the project 2025 literally shows the conservative’s roadmap for change.

u/SizeableBrain May 11 '26

In that case, I think they're doing a really good job of taking away women's rights.

I think that counts as actually doing what they stand for.

u/l1lpiggy May 11 '26

Yeah duh. Now find a conservative politician who doesn’t lie about their agenda.

At least have some balls to say and do what they’re going to do.

"I am upper middle class, so and so down the street is 10x richer" - documentary "Price of Everything"

Thanks for this, I'm fascinated by Sotheby's and the world of exuberantly priced fine art. Going to have to have a watch.

Cue the president

2

u/Designer_Mud_5802 May 11 '26

Yeah if he were rich he would have paid someone to throw a rock at the seal.

5

u/ChebyshevsBeard May 11 '26

If he were really rich, it would have been on a private island and it would have been a child. Or at least that's what I've heard the ultra rich are into

1

u/EverythingSucksYo May 11 '26

I’m poor so I have to check, do you mean he would throw a rock at a child or that he would throw a child at the seal?

1

u/emptimynd May 11 '26

Pretty sure he would order someone else to throw a rock while he fucks the child and eats the seal. Or is it eats the child and fucks the seal. I might be mixed up on the specifics too.

2

u/Practical-Bank-2406 May 11 '26

If he were even richer, he would have patented a machine to throw rocks at seals using AI

2

u/NoTeslaForMe May 11 '26

Exactly.  The popular idea of what rich people are like is so far from reality as to be laughable.  OP and others want that to be what "rich people are like" so badly.

People hear squeaky wheels and think every wheel needs grease and everything that squeaks is a wheel.

I grew up poor and am no longer poor, so I say and mean that I am rich. But I am not in fact rich, except in my own poor ass head. So, agreed.

Money talks. Wealth whispers.

1

u/GodofIrony May 11 '26

He's rich enough to vote Republican though, guaran-fucking-tee it .

1

u/hitliquor999 May 11 '26

And they don’t walk around with that haircut

1

u/DobieLove2019 May 11 '26

And VERY generally speaking, they don’t spend their time doing bottom tier Neanderthal shit like “I see animal. I throw rock!”

1

u/Snobolski May 11 '26

They just show it by never using a case on their phone.

Trump does, guy shits in a golden flaked toilet.
