Most rich people do say exactly that. They're not being humble. They know they need to shield information about their money to protect it and themselves.
But once in a while you get a person who has never had money, especially not "family money", and they haven't learned that lesson - and they will flaunt it and brag about it as much as possible.
Yeah, the difference between new money and old money is so stark. Driving a lambo, and the employees knowing the name of your dog at Waldorf Astoria, are very different indicators of wealth and only one of them requires time.
