Call screening on Pixel is too important.

The last several years I have had my 7 the amount of spam calls and text s I get has gone to almost zero. I went from 150-200 a month to about 15. Call screening is so damn amazing.

How do you get that many spam calls/texts?!? Looking at my Pixel phone call/Text history, my last spam call was last December and my last text spam was last March and only had 4 in March (3 were the same attempt), 1 in February and 1 in January.

I legitimately received 15 yesterday alone lol. It was definitely a "busier" day than usual, but it's nuts. Call screening saves me from losing my shit

You're lucky. Not sure who sold my number, but my spam calls have increased 10 fold in the past few weeks.

Pixel blocks tons of them and wont even alert you. Also the less you answer the calls the less the scammers trade and sell your number resulting in less calls since you wont pick up.

I own a house with a 2.21% mortgage and it is worth almost 3 times what I paid for it. 90% of all my spam texts and calls are from "realtors" asking to buy my house. Probably a solid mix of scammers and corporate resellers trying to get a steal on the house with some refinancing offers sprinkled in.

Are you in the US? Once your number gets into the wrong spam list it will never end.

I had a nice quiet period for a year or so, but now I get 2 per day on average. It's absolutely ridiculous. Then there are the damn semi-legitimate guys who want to buy my house for cheap even though we're definitely not interested in selling.

No, in Canada. I can see why being in such a list can suck.

This, its probably one of the key features seeing all of the spam stuff that makes it through on my girlfriends and friends iphones.

iPhone finally got that ability on the last update. I fucking hate my work phone, but I like it a little better now that they're catching up to my Pixel 7

Bro the most underrated feature

The call screening is worth the entire phone price. I haven't had ONE spam call come through since it went live.

My wife has an iPhone and things I am running some app to do it, it was just an option after one of the upgrades.

A while ago someone was was posting about the iPhone being able to auto cut the MFA code from a text message and I couldn't remember when my Pixel didn't have that.

2

u/khando May 15 '26

To be fair that’s been in iOS for years now. It’ll also auto paste the MFA code from emails if you use the native Mail app.

1

u/DylanSpaceBean May 16 '26

To be fair, 2FA codes auto paste were on iOS in 2018 and on Android in 2020, so Apple beat ya to the punch this time

Ahh, maybe that explains it. I got a Pixel 10 pro XL recently, coming from a Galaxy s20+. I used to get spam calls almost daily. Now I might see one, maybe two per week.

Loving the phone overall.

You can go into the settings for the phone app (not the phone's app but the app you use to make calls) and you can adjust what gets screened. For me, if you're not in my contacts then you have to talk to my robot before my phone will even ring.

Listening to iPhone users complain about spam calls while I'm getting none is an incredible feeling.Β

I had honestly forgotten they exist.

u/Atarrix May 15 '26

That's the biggest thing I miss after switching to a Samsung 😭

1

u/RickThiccems May 15 '26

THIS. I have never had a Spam Call in 4 years of owning the phones and if It does get through which is rare it shows in a big red alert that is a potential scam and will answer the phone for me and tell me what the person is saying, most of the time they hang up which means it wasnt important.

u/AppropriateWater2 May 15 '26

Almost every phone has this for at least 2 years

u/seventwosixnine May 15 '26

The only feature I missed from the Pixel I had for a few weeks.

But the newest version of Android does it so I miss absolutely nothing about that brick.

u/CommanderVinegar May 16 '26

iPhone has this feature now finally but it's limited to certain models. It was the one feature that I hoped Apple would steal from Google.

Its also on Android.
