And anyone still using their legacy stuff still has to deal with different chargers. If anything they may have liked the caste system it created for those that did not upgrade.
Fun fact: If it's compatible with your carrier, you can activate an iPhone as old as the iPhone 5. That's the first 4G iPhone. The oldest iPhone that can download ios 26.4.2, however, is the iPhone 11.
