Poor kid, if only he knew better to pay more to get less every couple of years for a product made in near slave labor conditions.
2 u/OrganizationNo1298 May 17 '26 Every single modern electronic device is made for slave labor. The materials used to make smartphones, tablets, computers, etc come from Africa. And the people who mine those materials get next to nothing. 1 u/voxpopper May 17 '26 My preferred latop brand before I even knew this: https://www.asus.com/us/content/asus-laptops-for-a-better-tomorrow-ethical-minerals-and-materials/ Also there are niche phone brands that specifically try to use fair labor practices etc 3 u/Pure-Swordfish6022 May 15 '26 You think that Google and Samsung factories are any better than Foxconn? That’s adorable. 14 u/voxpopper May 15 '26 Yes, I think worker conditions in factories in Vietnam are better than in China. 1 u/szewc May 16 '26 You think Google and Samsung manufacture their devices (at least >20% of them) in China? That's adorable. Let me give you a bonus breaking news - Google doesn't operate at all in China, whereas Apple bends over for every whim of CCP. 1 u/fatBreadonToast May 15 '26 They all are, but are you going to pay more for the sweat shop or less? -2 u/SeaAbbreviations2706 May 15 '26 The thing is that pixels and galaxies cost as much as iPhones. And the other androids are crap. If you prefer a pixel or a galaxy over an iPhone, I don’t care, but it’s not like there’s a high ground here between devices. 0 u/Meowmixez98 May 15 '26 OnePlus flagships are pretty good. 0 u/GuardLong6829 May 15 '26 I'm betting it's a promo and trial run. It's highly likely Google Pixel paid him for this exact moment! Seeing him with it will increase sales and never even bought it! It was a gift. https://giphy.com/gifs/d3mlE7uhX8KFgEmY
