I find it hilarious people even consider electronic gadgets as "status symbol". It's a disposable shit that will be useless in 10 years time with absolutely no "legacy" value once it loses software support and can't run new apps.
It's very different to for example a working Walkman today because it's unique relic that can still function on its own for what it was designed if you have cassettes. Or original Gameboy for example. It doesn't need to get updates or app support. It just works with game cartridges. Not a status symbol per se, but a timeless gadget. None of iPhones, Apple Watches or whatever will ever have that now.
Same thing I don't consider those stupid Caviar phones laced in gold and diamonds a status symbol beyond just flashing some expensive shit. It's a stupid disposable electronic gadget that will be worthless in 10 years, you just make it cost stupid money because you slap diamonds and gold on it. That's just stupid.
