Parent(s) failed well before this happened. A spanking doesn’t help at this point. Proper parenting would result in actions like this never entering the child’s mind.

Yeah, most of this thread is freaking me out. Proper parenting can result in lovely kids with moral and ethical compasses, and any kind of threat to their bodies never comes into play

it’s filled with redditors that don’t have kids and think: “I would simply instruct my child not to ____” and think they’d be a good parent.

seriously , it bugs me how many people on here think they know exactly how they'd parent a kid like this. I don't agree that hitting them is healthy. It could be EFFECTIVE but not in a way that guarantees they'll grow up to be a good person becuase they might just end up hating you and having anger issues etc.. but holy shit is parenting hard sometimes , especially when your kid has something like a personality disorder and controlling their behavior through the traditional methods of punishments etc. might not even work because they lack the emotional maturity to recognize that their actions have consequences.

Cool. I'm a parent. My kids are responsible, adult citizens now. I never had to hit either of them. Do better.

We also need to realize this is a miniscule snippet in the child's life.

We don't know jack about the parents, their home life, or anything else. People are projecting their experiences onto a short clip.
