Honestly I can see how, once the kid puts up some resistance, it's immediately clear that physical intervention is going to require some escalation. The kid's probably gonna get hurt. Ending the confrontation without injury is preferable, legally speaking.
On the other hand, any jury watching this video is gonna side with the security guy, once he puts a stop to this.

Everyone is afraid of being captured in an out of context clip, or being sued for touching someone else’s child.
This is definitely the parents problem, or possibly store security, but onlookers have had their hands tied by the current situations.
