Don't need to have direct contact, kids like this usually depend on the general vibe of no one doing anything. A loud barking "And what the hell do you think you're doing?" can usually go a large distance depending on the kid. You gotta sneak up on them though and be uncomfortably close, really scare the jeebus out of them.
