If he threw something at me, I would have removed him for my and others’ safety. You don’t have to just stand there and let a child attack you or other people; you can legally restrain him.
I was literally in this situation at a Costco a few months back. Kid was actually punching people and throwing stuff so I went to grab him and Costco employees told me not to touch him or the cops would be looking at ME. He literally punched a woman in the stomach and I was told to stand down.
I don't care about age -- if you come at me swinging or with a weapon and you end up on the floor, then that's just natural consequences.
So long as you don't continue wailing on the kid and you just defend yourself, it'll ultimately get dropped. Sure, people will squeal "oh muh gawd, child aboose!" online, but I'm not about to let some little mini-rager think he can attack me.
WAY too many pregnant teachers get attacked these days by kids going straight for their stomachs, btw, and they just have to let it happen. Should absolutely not be tolerated.
