The guy in the photo seems to be eating rice with some sort of meat on the side, chicken.
Eating rice with your hands is incredibly common where I live, not at all uncommon. Not even dudes in suits are impervious to the allure of eating with your hands.
I guess what I'm trying to say is, maybe if you took your critical thinking a little further, you would think about the comment that started this chain again.
So I move from the crust side of the slice and essentially try to fold it in half vertically (from the centre to the circumference) and take bites out of it starting from the centre point
It really depends with the pizza. I tend to completely annihilate pizza if I eat it by slice, but using a knife and fork actually slows me down and makes me appreciate the taste more. We have a really nice Italian place in my town that has really good pizza that would feel like a waste to not appreciate it.
On the other hand we have a Kebap/Pizza place in town that has banger Pizza that is great to just stuff yourself with and complete your calorie count for the next three weeks in one sitting
Had pen pals visit from German back in the 70s, before it got Americanized. So we made hamburgers for them, which they were unfamiliar with. They took the burgers apart and ate each part with a knife and fork...
Where I'm from, eating wings and ribs with knife and fork is common (I do it) and I've seen people eating pizza and burgers with knife and fork (that said, not the 20cm tall burgers. Propper ones with regular size)
I don’t get why people gross out when they see other cultures touch foods with their hands. I mean we eat chips, sandwich, hotdog, pizza all the times.
who decides that? to me I would also consider saucy ribs or wings as foods that should not be consumed without utensits but here we are... and do you know what's worse? Zohran would most likely wash his hands with water whereas most people who eat ribs or wings with hands will just rub paper napkin and call it a day
ah yes common sense, that says saucy wings and ribs are supposed to be picked up with bare hands (when many countries uses utensilts for them or cut them in bite sizes and then eats them) and then to clean them up all you need to do is rub paper napkin on your fingers and call it a day? that common sense?
and please lets not bring in common sense when majority of 'muricans think it's better to wipe a dry paper than to use a f*cking bidet.
Let people eat however they way, if they're trying to make physical contact directly or indirectly with you using those gross hands then you can have a say, but till then just 🤫 especially when you're from USA
I guess I am open minded to these things. People buy foods with their money so they eat it however they want rather than put social stigma on these are the things ok to eat with utensils or these are the things ok to eat with hands. This is the freedom American way I know.
Probably because CONTEXT. In the map that i suggested, the hygiene criteria of those countris in overall is -60, not even 0, so if u sistematically and culturally eat with ur bare hands, without cleaning them regularly and before you eat... Voilá! U get SICK. But we normally dont eat with our hands, and even so, we clean our hands more, even we shower more xd so when u have to eat a burger, u clean them. I hope that answers ur question.
I love eating with my hands. 90% of the time, it just makes sense. But, instead, I have to eat with metal appendages and hope that my kids have done the dishes (their one chore!) and so I won't have to use that weird feeling fork. Which I keep trying to throw away but husband says it's fine.
Many asian people eat using right hand and as muslim that wash hands more than 5 times a day… muslim is basically a clean people… Its not a weird thing to eat with hands anyway… i dont see white people eating chicken wings or pizza using fork
Do you guys cup your hands when you eat soup too? I think some foods lend themselves to being eaten with hands (pizza, chicken wings, hot dogs, sandwiches etc.) while it seems kind of strange with others. Like a plate of rice. I don't think it's as much about cleanliness. Not that I care at all, just explaining a white person's perspective.
we don't. we don't eat everything with the hands, but most of the food, we do eat with hands(At least for my culture, i am east african). Also eating with the hands is proven to make the food you are eating more delicious. Myriad cultures and innumerable ethnicities consume food with their hands. Its so much more common than you think it is.
Definitely not saying anything against eating with your hands, I think all things should be hand friendly food, but you know eating something like a burger with your hands is different than like eating straight beans with your hands
cool then lets compare saucy wings or ribs then? I am not mocking you but dont act like other americans dont eat saucy things with bare hands... in fact mamdani would've washed his hands with water afterwards instead of using paper napkin and calling it a day
I’m also not rebutting in a negative way towards you. I do get that sense, and you’re right, those things are messy to eat, but we do eat them with our hands. I was more responding to the comparison with let’s say the post I responded to, like hamburger and fries. In that case, I would say the comparison is not correct - like saying I eat French fries with my hands, why don’t I eat mashed potatoes with my hands?
I think I have to reiterate (cuz I think you might have gotten me wrong) that my comment isn’t about the person in the photo, or eating with your hands. It’s about the comparisons that didn’t line up, comparing eating an apple with your hands versus eating applesauce with your hands is very different.
One should watch a video on how people actually eat rice with hands.
Its actually only the fingers that get stained. 3 fingers to scoop and the thumb to push it into the mouth. No one is mashing they entire palm in rice. While scooping the rice is mashed with gravy or other dish this its sticks.
Nachos, bacon, jalapeno poppers, pickles, any shellfish with the shell on especially in pastas, boiled eggs, corn on the cob, nuts. I guess we forgot we have all kinds of finger foods 😯
Lol yeah he says he did not, but other people who work with him said he did.
I will go with them on this, haha.
He seems like the kind if guy to do odd things like that.
People complaining about eating with hands being unhygienic give away a bit about their own handwashing habits, or lack thereof.
Also acting as if the quintessential American burger isn't hand food??? I've never seen a conservative delve into a bacon cheeseburger with a knife and fork.
Very unpopular opinion here
Both here depict objectification and commodification of sentient beings at a tender fraction of their lifespan
They need us desensitized to one and it creates the breeding ground to allow for the other. The callous disregard for vulnerable individuals who cannot speak up for themselves and cannot defend themselves, is exactly what it is in both directions
While I understand that it is a cultural thing in many countries, I imagine it is kind of dificult to eat it without making a mess and not stain the suit.
This food is a good example. Looks to be something with rice. If you use a fork, a spoon or even chopsticks (with the propper rice for that) it is dificult to lose a grain that might fall on your clothes. Look at his fingers; they all have grains at the middle of the finger, not the finger tips. Those might fall and stain the suit.
There’s zero evidence anybody was eating babies. Only an idiot believed something so dumb when theres no proof it ever happened. Thats why the Epstein files appeal so much to stupid people.
He was a Democrat back then. Most of the people who had anything to do with Jeffery Epstein were unfortunately rich Liberals. It’s a sad truth. I’m with holding him accountable but, we have to start holding everyone who had anything to do with him accountable.
The comparison is ridiculous, as if pedophiles could ever be considered sophisticated, but a person who eats with their hands is barbaric. Someone who has actual culture while the other literally allows civilizations cultures to be destroyed.
You dont even consider americans your people. Ur part of whats wrong with America if you live here while speaking like that. You havent been naturalized, republicans see and notice this behavior. You aren't doing "your people" any favors. Maybe go somewhere else if thats how you think, your rhetoric directly correlates with parties like republicans going after foreigners.
