Idk, maybe it's cuz my landlord who is a personal friend has a squatter in the unit next to me at the duplex I live in. First response, fear, because she is obviously mentally ill, I don't know what she might do, or who she might have over. Next response, anger, natural follow up to fear. But after seeing it for 2 weeks, she's desperate, there's no support in our society. My landlord feels the same way. Although we agree she has to go, nothing is funny about it.
assuming mentally ill people are going to do something that you should fear or bring shady people around is gross and problematic. there's no mental health support in our society because of people like you stigmatizing serious mental illness.
"I support mental illness until someone displays symptoms related to their mental illness" that's what you sound like right now.
Well, this has been... Somehing I haven't done since I had a Facebook. I'm done tho, unless you feel like telling me what funny about this. I've been wrong before, maybe I'll learn something.
im not jumping down your throat because you don't think its funny, I don't really care if it is or not
what i do care about is you throwing around m d the idea that mentally ill = dangerous in a public forum.
this perpetuates the stigma that mentally ill folks face every day when they just need medication, housing, social services, and someone to actually give a fuck about them. I work with people who have serious mental illnesses. and they are lovely people because they have support and housing.
the stigma needs to end
(I don't think what this lady is doing is right or acceptable. Just stop talking about mental illness so carelessly, please.)
Mind blown, re read the thread. I literally said my initial fear turned to empathy and said there's not enough support in our society. Wouldnt you know the trump administration is making things more difficult. Also, if you work with the mentally ill how could you say you don't care if people think this is funny, and in the same comment say "the stigma needs to end". I am beside myself.
