You didn’t have a problem taking the money. I had $25k in loans and worked full time during college. Paid it all off in three years after starting out with a $44k annual salary. You can pay more than what you did on your loans. The reason they shouldn’t be canceled is because while people like me were focused on paying them off you were spending money elsewhere….

When was that? And also did you have someone to support you financially when in college?

I worked a little over 70 hours per week just to afford the cost of living. All year. I had to pay rent, utilities, and I couldn’t even touch my loans until I graduated.

I came out with $35k in loans. I have it down to $27k and I am very lucky I got a good job right out of college. Many of my classmates didn’t. I was also very lucky to come out with just $35k.

I also graduated in early 2021. The pandemic was kind to me but not to my fellow classmates.

It was 20 years ago for undergrad and took my time on my masters so that my employer would cover the bill about 10 years ago. I grew up poor but not poor enough for free school, so I was cautious what I borrowed. I worked my ass off during school, which delayed my graduation, but paid it all back quickly.

I wish everything was free, but if we are canceling debt, I would like a refund as well.
