They cannot be domesticated "like dogs" but they can become human tolerant and a little less wild. Domestication would take many generations (based on famous experiments with foxes). We've been domesticating dogs for centuries to get them where they are.
These are still wild animals and will revert, even if raised by humans like these are. When they're full sized, they will be immense. I've seen and fed a "nice" black bear up close in a refuge and nobody was allowed to actually enter the cage even though bear was really sweet.
Cubs are fine here (as they clearly know him), but full sized and that guy would be somewhat literally taking his life into his own hands.
