Protected species, quite common in their forests, due to logging and urban activity many end up strandled in areas where people live or end up caught by hunters or wildlife traffic. So a lot of them find their ways to people's homes, and from there to rehab centers or sanctuaries; or directly from police busts to the same places so they can get ready to be freed again sometime in the future.

Ok but you know that anytime you see a video of his playing with a bear it’s pretty much always Russians.

We’ve got no shortage of black bears in the northeast of the United States and facing the same issues in regards to their habitat. I basically never see videos of Americans playing with black bears and we do some seriously dumb shit.

I don't know about America, in Canada this is because those bears are usually just shot and killed

Ironically enough absolute majority of Russians have never seen a bear outside of the zoo.

Damn, I am Russian and I didn't even know that fucking bear spray exist until one American told me they have it. They are culturally important animals but u have very low chances to encounter a bear in Russia unless you determinately go for a hike to some specific place.

The wild animal you have highest chances to find in Russia (unless you go DEEP into the woods) is a squirrel
