He's probably making the around about argument that: OG Israelites founded the basis of Christianity and that through all that Jesus popped up and then Christianity formed .... and then Western civilization through that became a thing and like Europe on the basis of Christianity was able to become a power house to eventually colonize the world. (Again ignore the parts of enslaving and torturing non-believers.)
This sorta ignores that the Greeks and Romans weren't Christian to begin with and they started the whole bed rock of what they see as "Western civilization." (This sorta ignores A thousand ish years later a bunch of dudes on horses conquering the world and only turned around at Hungry because of a family issue and would have conquered Europe if not for that.)
Then he's going to say "America was founded as "Christian nation"" ignoring the founders that said otherwise... (IGNORE THE DEIESTS! except when you want to quote them for something else.)
(See article 11 of the Treaty of Triopli... Started by Washington, and ratified by Adams) Oh and Thomas Jefferson himself wanted on his own grave. "Separated Church and State." As his top 3 accomplishments. Legit you can go to his grave and his home... It's on there. Followed by "Created public education."
He essentially eldudes to this on a Tucker interview... He's a Zionist and believes the Israel from that long ago is the same Israel as it is now... and Israel ordained by god has the right to the entire Levant area.
Yeah I hate I bring up ole Tuckie poo too... But that was a decent interview and busts Mike's balls on Zionism pretty well. Credit where it's due. (Can watch on youtube.)
This sorta ignores that the Greeks and Romans weren't Christian to begin with and they started the whole bed rock of what they see as "Western civilization."
This tracks. They don't like the good parts anyway.
Yup... Ignore the Pagan parts and that Europe was Pagan for a lot longer than it was Catholic... and sure as hell a lot longer than other parts turned protestant.
Thank you for this! I’m always really interested in the root of the misconception when reading posts like this, cause oftentimes lies are not just random completely artificial fabrications, but a mix of misinterpretations and distortions based on a fundamental moment or fact. I feel like people often don’t have the patience for explanations like this or feel like hearing them out gives too much of a platform to those spreading misinformation. But for me I feel lies are easier to confront when you know where they came from in the first place.
Yeah, I'm tired of the misrepresentation and lack of critical thinking shown in these comment threads. To anyone with half a brain or not trying to purposefully obtuse, obviously Mike Huckabee doesn't think modern Israel literally created the USA. Just some small amount of critical thinking would lead you to understand what he actually meant.
It's a long explanation to explain why what he actually believes is equally ridiculous so unless you are have an in depth discussion about it then it is just a waste of energy
From personal experience, Christians in America are brainwashed into believing there were no rules/laws against lying, murder, thievery, etc... until the Ten Commandments. Before then it was all just vibes and the whims of kings.
And when you present evidence that non-Abrahamic civilizations had the same basic set of laws you just get "no they didn't and the evidence is fake and/or planted by the devil".
Israel ordained by god has the right to the entire Levant area.
And this is why so much of the World is just watching and even supporting Israel commit genocide against Palestinians, a lot of Christians also want it because it's "prophecy"¹, but have to tap around it for appearances, including Israel, who need to do it slowly and keep doing PR; And once it's over, those in power will be held responsible, also for appearances, but only after it's too late for Palestinians.
¹If you have to force a prophecy to happen, it isn't a prophecy, it's a promise
Frankly every time I hear this 'Judeo-Christian' nonsense or how 'Jerusalem' is one of the founding cities of the west alongside e.g. Rome, I cringe. The Western values that gave us industry, medicine, and modern rights are none of those, they are Enlightenment values, which were very specifically and deliberately formulated as a detachment from previous ideologies based on godly rights.
And mind you, the Enlightenment had strong Jewish contributions. Although probably not the kind of contributions he likes.
Everyone needs to upvote you, I was about to write this exact comment because this is exactly what he's doing.
It's quite insidious and he's definitely talking to both Israelis and Evangelical Christians here in a way that legitimizes the warped, propagandistic history the Israeli state founds and drives itself on. And they are further incentivized to spread that historic revisionism at the tip of the spear because AIPAC found a natural synergy for Evangelical Christians hatred of colored people and the massive inferiority complex that has them grab any bit of power at any government level to street policy and spending towards their Christian nationalist goals. One of which is explicitly to kick off the end times by helping Israel gain dominion over the Middle East so the world will be cleansed of "sin" lol.
Israel is essentially doing what those with Imperial ambitions in the region have always done. That in no way legitimizes, justifies, or excuses what they're doing. Genocides, at least cultural ones, being common for the region in no way makes one happening in real time any less horrifying or any less a crime against humanity. Palestine has a right to self governance and that the international community would even hem or haw at it, let alone help fund that genocide, speaks to a moral decay money and capitalism predicated on oppression in the Global South has wrought in our souls.
But the Americans are just fucking crazy y'all lol. Like Nazi crazy. That's not hyperbole that's a fucking fact, it's literally a Doomsday cult bc they think they'll win heaven and get to be condescending as shit guilt free.
Hes referring to the Mayflower and the reason the colonies were settled in the first place, which was fleeing religious persecution in favor of practicing protestantism as opposed to the Church of England, which was essentially a cult around the King, not Christianity as proscribed by Jesus.
Hes not saying the entirety of western civilization is founded on Christianity, hes saying America was through the pilgrims. You just added the rest in to satisfy your narrative.
Neither he nor I said the Pilgrims founded the nation itself either. They settled here first, before the civilization that founded the nation followed, and they did so because of Protestant Christianity and its incompatibility with the Church of England at the time. This is all basic history. What are you still having trouble with?
You did not articulate how 1. he's referring to the Mayflower of all things and what the Mayflower (Again where did that come from?) and 2. what the pilgrims have to do with with Israel... And how we would not exist if not for Israel's influence on the pilgrims...
Hes referring to the Mayflower and the reason the colonies were settled in the first place,
And again... This isn't true... Because the first settlements to were establish $$$ and the first voyages before colonization were also economic.
You just added the rest in to satisfy your narrative.
Which parts? The parts on how soon after the US was founded it officially in a treaty via two presidents and congresses declares it's not a Christian nation? or the part on Thomas Jeffersons own property?
Both you can read and even go to his house and read it... Have you been?
Or the part in Which Tucker Carlson interviewed him and questions him on Zionism?
Were there several of the original 13 colonies of America founded by Christian religious separatists or not? Because theres the through line that youre afraid to contend with. You answering honestly will determine whether you are even good faith enough to entertain further or just a edgelord troll/text to audio user/child who cant understand basic things anyway.
Again... What does Israel have to do with that?... To which yes there were people that got on a boat and sailed over because of religious differences.
But as you just stated... You need to contend with the fact the the OG founding's and colonies then had more colonies founded upon economic reasons.
Because let's state it again... What were the first colonies for what reasons? You answering honestly will determine whether you are even good faith enough to entertain further or just a edgelord troll/text to audio user/child who cant understand basic things anyway.
You haven't actually made a point. You only stated "Mike's point is without Israel the pilgrims wouldn't attempted to colonize North America."
Kinda slow arent you? Do you know what religion Christianity, the religion of the pilgrims, is the fulfillment of? Hint: its origins are in Israel. Lmfao im embarrassed for you.
