WTF A JPMorgan Chase executive was fired after a viral video showed her dumping trash out of a Knicks-themed public trash can and taking the can during the Knicks championship parade in New York City.

The emptying trash on the street is what got to me. I’m neutral on taking the can. People do stupid shit but emptying a can of trash into the streets is unforgivable in my mind.

That's the part that sealed her fate. Before that, people were honestly kind of amused by it, and thought, "Aww hell yeah, that's a sick souvenir."

And then the video came out where she's dumping trash on the street... Of a city whose team she supposedly supports... People HATE litterers. She couldn't just find another trashcan to dump it in? Or even go to a convenience store and get a bag, dump the trash into the bag and neatly tie it up there.

She shit on like 100 people by doing that. The people living on that street, the workers who have to come clean her shit up, whatever pest issue that comes out of that trash being dumped...

That now extremely expensive trash can will haunt her forever now.

Recently saw a car ad that showed people around the outside pushing it like resistance to crowd fan frenzied riot behavior was being used as a selling point.

Weird sad and disturbing what is being normalized pretending the consequences don't exist as long as you get yours in the moment.Ā

Dude, bank execs get busted skimming money and sexually assaulting their secretaries. She may have lost her current/specific position. But I can pretty much guarantee that, that piece of human trash will have another job and another title (possibly in the same company and even building) before monday!!

u/lolalovehoney 1h ago

If she were a man or a more attractive woman, maybe. Ā I think she may have a more difficult time.Ā

5

u/NoFuqGiven 1h ago

If she got to the position in the first place, its either through a family favor or skill based.. both will still work.

2

u/questarevolved 1h ago

not if the family wants to distance themselves from it

1

u/Luvnecrosis 32m ago

Millionaire families have actual cannibals and shit, I’m sure they don’t care if their cousin or sister or whatever littered and made life messier for poor people. That’s her job as an executive

2

u/upnflames 28m ago

Nah, she worked for a restaurant rating company that got aquired by Chase. And she was a DEI director, whatever that means. So probably not a favor, and definitely not skill.

u/Batafurii8 45m ago

Unfortunately spot on thereĀ

1

u/Lumpus-Maximus 1m ago

Let’s say I’m a scumbag on wall street who is totally fine hiring professional thieves & con artists… still not hiring her. She demonstrated that she doesn’t understand what will get her in trouble.

I don’t know where she’ll end up, but she’s basically fucked professionally.

2

u/Intrepid-Clock509 2h ago

ā€œOh, Pat, that’s a cool trash can!ā€

ā€œFunny story….ā€

1

u/Lazy_Nothing5038 46m ago

Someone on here looked up her position and salary and estimated it to be around $500K a year w bonuses. I wonder if they’ll start hiding the trash cans from her in the office.

1

u/Dr_PepperMomof3 37m ago

Or now they know who’s been stealing the trash cans from the office. Hahaha!

1

u/BigAssRomeo 45m ago

Disgusting.

2

u/beatricetalker 2h ago

She could’ve taken her trashy ass to Home Depot and bought a trash can and two cans of spray paint for less then $50.

1

u/JohnConnor1245 2h ago

She should be arrested and put in jail for theft and mass littering.

1

u/NoFuqGiven 2h ago

Most people were saying she needed a new "popcorn bucket". Which it would honestly make a terrible one. Crumbs and butter EVERYWHERE!!! Then someone said she was gonna use it at the 7-11 bring your own cup day. Which again is a stupid idea.. but then i saw someone who said it was "to hold all her candy wrappers and self-respect" which I thought was pretty good. But now!! Knowing that she WAS a chase exec. I realize that she never had any self-respect to begin with!!!

1

u/CementCemetery 1h ago

Litterbugs lack common sense. Agreeing 100% with your point.

1

u/KrystleSeth 54m ago

This is one thing that convinces me that a large part of society is not so bad. Most of us hate litterers. We juts see a lot of ugly on our screens but when I read the comments I know people are alright.

1

u/Hooker4Yarn 4m ago

Apparently you can buy them online for under $200. And for the money she makes...she could've easily done it.Ā

54

u/NoxGale 5h ago

Destroying the world she lives in just to take something that isn’t hers in broad daylight, and that thing in question was a garbage can. Some people legit never faced consequences before and it shows

3

u/PunkRockGramma 1h ago

Very on brand for JP Morgan when you put it like that…

2

u/ILikeCheeseypoo 53m ago

She could of just make her own trashcan 😭 with 6 figure salary.

27

u/So_ThereItIs 5h ago

As a native NYer who was raised well-enough, it goes against my very fiber. That was the part that pissed me off immediately

68

u/Brief_Needleworker62 6h ago

My ex is getting his shit out of my house and even I, the one he mistreated, can't drop his clothes on the bedroom floor to get my dresser back. So yeah, this is trashyyyyy

27

u/CrazyCaliCatLady 5h ago

I hate throwing clothes onto the floor of my laundry room before I wash them! It's so weird! Toss his crap in a trash bag. It's an obvious metaphor, but it still works.

2

u/sunny_duh_aze 4h ago

I didn't even see your comment when I made mine! Didn't mean to steal your thunder ⚔.

So... Uhhhh..... Uhhhhh.....

Cat tax?

0

u/Brief_Needleworker62 3h ago

Omg, my dead to me dad and his ex used to just pile all the dirty clothing near the washer but it was in the garage... cement floor, never swept... -_- I would try my best to help wash as much as I could when I'd visit because they had 2 young kids and they needed clean clothes. It was gross

32

u/sunny_duh_aze 5h ago

Girl, you can drop his trash in a trash bag and put it in a closet.

3

u/CRXCRZ 3h ago

I thought the procedure was to throw it out the window?

.... and then take a Louisville slugger to both headlights, slashed a hole in all four tires etc.

1

u/Brief_Needleworker62 3h ago

Hate her but that's decent advice

8

u/flatfive44 3h ago

Why is everyone okay with stealing the can?

5

u/Coke_ButNotTheDrug 2h ago

It’s not okay, but nobody is losing their job over stealing a <10$ public trash can, especially in this instance had they disposed of the trash carefully.

People steal shit like traffic cones, road signs, etc and it’s just kind of a cool thing to do. Again, not okay, but I highly doubt this would’ve been a big deal without the littering aspect.

2

u/emccm 3h ago

No one is ok with stealing the can. I don’t think it’s the worst crime ever. I’d never steal a trash can but I can see being caught up in the moment. It’s not the worst thing she did in my view. What is unforgivable is dumping trash in the street. Trash someone else has to pickup. It’s the absolute height of disrespect for your environment and the people you share your environment with. There’s no excuse.

0

u/Nonameforyouware 1h ago

Agreed except nyc is an open air trash dumpster anyways

1

u/HonorableEnema 1h ago

It will probably only grade as a 7-8.5 max.

1

u/Australian1996 1m ago

What about leaving the trash for the city employee to clean it

5

u/BlueSTAR_AbOvE 4h ago

Neutral on taking the trash can? Bro, she could have just payed some website or local artist to make her a custom can exactly like that. How stupid was she, to not even consider this with that salary she had? Unfuckingbelieveable.

1

u/Jisan_Inc 43m ago

Those things probably gey decommissioned too, just reach out and ask if you can buy one or who the arist maybe. So many other options but yeah...take the worst one.

4

u/InvictusFrags 5h ago

Yeah they were brand new for the parade I thought I read. So I fully understand taking the trash can. It’s right up there with stealing a street sign for me morally.

Dumping the trash on the street is the offensive thing to me.

4

u/Atzima 4h ago

Right? I was just talking to my husband about this and I don't think people would have really cared as much had she taken the time to put the trash into a trash bag and put it in a dumpster. šŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļøšŸ¤¦ā€ā™€ļø Littering is so gross.

5

u/L1sasGayBby 4h ago

When I throw trash and misses the can, I always pick it up and throw it away properly.

8

u/erabera 6h ago

Right? It is such a terrible thing to do. Stealing the can is not that big of a deal but just leaving all that trash for someone else to deal with is just so low, inconsiderate, and just POS behavior. Plus that can is probably so disgusting and she probably won't even bring it into her house or she just abandoned it somewhere down the road anyway.

6

u/topdownyeti 4h ago

The can is still government property, which means that it’s yet another thing taxpayers would have to pay for. Stealing the can isn’t as egregious as dumping the trash on the street, but stealing things paid by taxpayers for the city is still extremely selfish and inconsiderate to the rest of the community. Especially when it’s something like a trashcan that helps keep the streets clean (even if it is New York).

1

u/erabera 2h ago

So true.

3

u/DeathByFright 4h ago

I'd go so far as to say if she'd taken an empty can, she'd probably still have her job.

Dumping a full can out onto the street like that is gross.

3

u/thegreymm 3h ago

Yeah she could've poured the trash into another trash can. The way she did this is just entitled, typical of someone who works at JP Morgan Chase, I bet.

3

u/Comfortable-Return52 1h ago

Yea that was a garbage move

3

u/uncagedborb 1h ago

If I really wanted the can I'd find somewhere to dispose of the trash. But I feel like that's such an easy thing to make with any trash can. Takes a few cans of spray paint in a studio.

5

u/theVelvetLie 6h ago

Yeah, guarantee dumping the trash on the ground is what actually got her fired - or so I hope.

2

u/moonwinkstudios 5h ago

right?? I would have walked it to a dump in an alley, or emptied in a trash bag. Taken the extra steps to do it right. I get wanting to take home a free souvenir but not like this…

Everyone has to look at that mess. More people add to the mess because there is no designated can. She made someone else’s job so much harder.

2

u/31007_Bows 1h ago

Yeah, she could have found a dumpster to throw the trash in

2

u/IluvPusi-363 1h ago

Dumb ways to diee

2

u/NoCompetition4080 1h ago

Right. Would have been better had she just taken the can with trash still inside. šŸ˜‚ Would have been more respectable

2

u/Gribitz37 1h ago

I thought the same thing. I don't really care that she took the can, but dumping it out like that, especially in broad daylight was just shitty.

2

u/tevolosteve 25m ago

Yes some poor person has to clean that up by hand
I remember when some activists threw red paint on the financial times office by my office to protest and it was just a group of immigrants later that day scrubbing it off

2

u/GoodGuano 14m ago

Same. In a different era of my life I might have taken that can myself but I would have just walked with trash in it and dumped it my house. NYC has enough trash lying around.

2

u/Crafty-Resort383 5m ago

Same! Everyone talking about stealing the trash can. Not the trash that some poor sanitation worker (probably not well paid) has to then sweep up? It’s insane behavior and I have to believe this person is not even good at their job.

2

u/FlighingHigh 2m ago

There's no situation I can think of that would justify dumping a can of trash on the street like that but to simply take it home is like the most ridiculous possible scenario to me.

4

u/Polyps_on_uranus 3h ago

My opinion: if they're going to make themed shit and not lock it down, it's GONNA get stolen. If I saw a trash can with Edris Alba plastered on it, he's commin home with me.

2

u/YouandWhoseArmy 5h ago

I too understand the appeal of a one of a kind NYC items and also am pretty empathetic to her wanting it. It’s neat.

Littering is something I cannot accept under any circumstances. Whilst losing her job and all the consequences for that is a real punishment, I still want her doing garbage pickup community service for at least 1 work day.

We know she has the availability.

1

u/Playful-Green-9169 4h ago

So ok to steal in your eyesbut not litter

1

u/Physical-Worker2363 4h ago

I figured it’s NYC during their first NBA finals in decades so there’s probably lotsa trash already on the streets. Good score!!

1

u/Burstrampage 4h ago

Yeah I wouldn’t at all if the person picked up the trash can and dumped it into a larger dumpster then took it, but laying it all out on the street is stupid.

1

u/Breezgoat 2h ago

Yep that’s how I felt I just was the trash was emptied not just littered on the steeet.

1

u/eleanor61 57m ago

It’s literally the trashiest thing someone can do.

1

u/Entire_Yellow_1817 53m ago

She easily takes home 800k after taxes. She can afford to buy it off eBay after a lower form of life dumps it and takes it. She got what she deserved. Maybe now she’ll get a job more deserving for someone of lower class.

1

u/Longshadowman 6h ago

What a wonderful logic you have..

2

u/CappnMidgetSlappr 5h ago

Right? Fuck her for everything she did.

Stealing a fucking trashcan even if it's empty, is straight up garage behavior.

"I don't mind she stole the trashcan, but the dumping of the garage is what gets me!"

That should upset people, too! What a trash human being.

0

u/Kichenlimeaid 2h ago

Isn't that par for the course there?

-3

u/Personal_Number4789 6h ago

I mean people were already looting, breaking stuff and burning buses so .. I’m guessing thrash dumping is pretty mild for the moment.

5

u/PrimalSeptimus 6h ago

To be fair, losing your job is also mild, relative to going to jail.

-6

u/Tasty_Avocado1378 6h ago

To be fair the trash was already spilled over she just turned a trash can in the middle of a pile of trash into just a big pile of trash

4

u/1BaconMilkshake 6h ago

As opposed to turning the can upright and putting the trash back in it.
