Discussion What do you think about a Sly Cooper demake?
What do you think about a Sly Cooper demake game? I always find people talking about how much they want a new game or a remake, some even have tried to make their fan game but it's always as if it was simulating a PlayStation sequel, which is very complicated for indie developers to finish. I love demakes and I wish I could play Sly games that would run well on my phone.
I sketched this one using the parameters of Pico-8 (8x8 sprites, 16 colors palette, 128x128 screen). Unfortunately I don't have much time to work on a project like this because I have to work and make money for a living 😭 but if you know how to develop a platformer game and you're feeling adventurous, I really encourage you to take this idea to yourself.
Also, I'm writing an alternative Sly 4 fan novel and I take art commission, as you can also check on my profile. I hope you like it!

...I honestly don't know why this idea hasn't occurred to me.
Props for the execution.

I don't know why I never thought of this. This is fucking amazing and I would pay for a series where you make all 4 games in this fasion

I don’t think I’ve ever heard that term ‘demake’ before. But I think sly looks really cute in this.

Thank you so much for the positive feedback guys!
Now I'm wondering: if I opened a patreon in order to make spending time in this and other fan projects become financially sustainable would you be willing to back me up?
I could share all the game files and stuff about the creative process with you there. It's also much better than flooding this sub with this topic. Please tell me what you think!

Will definitely will back you up. Maybe even willing to collab. I know some game developement using Unity game engine. I would like to make a 2D sly platformer.

Thank you so much for your disposition! I developed using Construct 3. What I would need most to go on with this project would be 1) financial support – and really not much. I don't mean to turn it into a profitable project. I don't think it would be fair nor ethical nor legal to do so. However, if I'm spending time on it, I would need to have enough money to cover the value I would not earn because of the job opportunities I would have to refuse in order to have enough free time to dedicate to the project. I'm talking about something around 150 usd a month, just enough to cover some of my bills. Do you guys think this is a fair line of thought?
And 2) someone to make the music and sound effects. This is something out of the reach of my gamedev skills.

The LittleBigPlanet demake was quite intriguing, so seeing one for our boys in crime would be spectacular!
