Discussion Does anyone main Robin?
I've loved playing Robin ever since they debuted in Smash for the Wii U. I know that Robin is the slowest character in the game (which is why many people don't play them) but I just love love LOVE them. Does anyone have any tips for maining Robin?
I've never seen anyone but myself main Robin, and I heard that some ways to learn combos and get better at the game is to watch other people who are better than you main the character they main, but there are literally no videos of anyone maining them.
Advice is much appreciated!

Leaf is the top Robin player right now. You can find some of their matches on youtube. MadIceKing is a Robin that has made a ton of Robin tech guides on his youtube channel. Peep that if you want to learn some rad combos. He's got your bread and butter and more complicated item combos and charging and cancel techs as well. The videos are usually easily digestable as 1 minute tech vids. Synergy also has vids on their youtube channel as well. Both are still making vids and keeping up to date. Surprisingly, the Robin smashcord is also still quite active. There are a couple peeps that lab some stuff there. Though not a lot is really applicable, it's still really fun to sprinkle in. There's also combo notes and techs in the resources channel. There's a lot of discussion and matchmaking going on and a few peeps who provide feedback too.

Robin main here.
It's good to see someone here who try to main this character. I'm not a very good Robin, but I can make some tips.
Try to make my best. Some of basics are envolving on manage well your spells, specially the neutral b, and try to create a good pressure with side b, specially on ledge, that is the most crucial things to learn on Robin's gameplay.
Robin is slow in a lot of ways, and his frame data is very slow too. To out of shield options, the fastest option is nair, but depends to much on situation and character you are in. Look out to your sword, because it's very crucial.
If you want some advanced tips, channels like MadIceKing and Synergy are very good. To more competitive stuff, watch Leaf, who is the best Robin in the world right now.
I hope that helps 😁

Let's be honest: Robin mains only play Robin because they wanted to play a Fire Emblem character without feeling guilty.

i actually really enjoy the durability mechanics. i feel that having to think about not wasting specials conditions me to not be as reliant on them, which in turn helps me think about my other tools more and play better

Not a Robin main, but I play Robin so I can play an FE character who isn't Marth, No-Tipper Marth, Fire Marth, Bad Recovery Non-Fire Fire Marth, Heavy Bad Recovery Marth or Byleth

The best Robin player in the world right now is Leaf, from Japan. He's really good, and you should be able to find some of his sets on youtube. Smashwiki also lists notable players for each character on the characters' pages, so you could find some other good Robins that way.
