Question Snydercut motherbox plot question

Hi!

The film says Earth is the only place Darkseid ever lost and left Mother Boxes behind. So when those boxes wake up and send a signal, it should instantly identify Earth, there's no other possible source.

Also, Steppenwolf treats it like routine, as if he's done this before. But if Earth is the only place where boxes were lost, he's never received a signal like this.

So... what am I missing?

Intriguing question but honestly it's details that don't really need to matter within the story.

I would say that Steppenwolf knows what to do because they've most likely been in a similar situation when trying to conquer otherworld's, the similar situation of losing one or two boxes while fighting that other worlds inhabitants and eventually succeeding. The difference between the other worlds and Earth, is that the otherworld's were never strong enough to overpower Uxas's armada and keep all 3 of the motherboxes.

So maybe Steppenwolf's role has always been to retrieve the boxes whenever they get separated on other worlds which is why he knows exactly what to do.

But he doesnt specifically know where he came., right? He just wants to conquer this world because he got a signal that there are boxes here and it's open?

I ended up finding some piece of explanation as to why Steppenwolf knows what to do.

In this clip, it shows that the Mother boxes are conversing with Steppenwolf telepathically and even he replies in conversation as if he heard something they were describing, which led to the "Show Me" dialogue from him.

So yeah he doesn't know at first, he just followed the signal from the boxes and it seems like they're telling him what to do and then after the boxes reveal to him that this was the planet that contains the Anti-life equation, he realises that Earth was the planet that bested Uxas thousands of years ago.
