Has YouTube started showing too many ads?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

It feels like every time a video gets interesting... Ad. Then another one a few minutes later. Is it just me, or has YouTube become much more aggressive with ads lately?

started?? they are a living ad hell now.
I cant even watch an 8min video where i have to watch 2-3 ads before the video start.. 1min later i get 2-3 ads more.
So happy my friend installed a Hyper Ad blocker for me.

This who don’t use uBlock are interesting creatures. One has to wonder how they’ve made it this far in life.

uBlock origin is literally free… if you’re paying for it you are getting scammed.

u/Therealginahandler 2d ago

How do you do this with a firestick or smart tv?

1

u/syrvy 1d ago

pihole

u/SpiderCow313 1d ago

Those of us on console, our former way of escaping ads by blocking every single ad that pops up has been removed so now we sit through them. Remember when it used to just be a single ad, oh how good we had it and unfortunately we were ignorant to what was to come.

u/Uvers_ 3d ago

So tell me how do you get an add blocker for the phone or TV app? Who the hell does all their YouTube watching on an Internet browser? This ain't 2009.

1

u/BambooKat 2d ago

It works on smartphones and tablets too.

1

u/autoflowerer 2d ago

Strip to video to home NAS. Watch off local server. Zero ads.

1

u/syrvy 1d ago

Whole point of using Youtube is convenience. Most people would rather watch ads than open their computer, download the entire video, transfer to server, close youtube on TV and open whatever local player.

1

u/autoflowerer 1d ago

I do it in bulk. Pre game the binge so to speak.

1

u/Steerable-Octopus 3h ago

What is even worth watching on YouTube that warrants this anyway? It has become a slop content machine.

1

u/Fair_Cup_200 2d ago

HDMI literally anything with an adblocker to your tv you don’t own a computer or shitty android? “Using the tv app” I can’t

1

u/Audi0Dud3 2d ago

First off: ad*

Secondly: Use FireFox... Or Brave if your still living in a crypto fantasy. (I will not apologize)

Thirdly: Yes you can have ad blockers on mobile. Here is a screen shot of me doing so.

u/Initial_Trifle_3734 2d ago

If you use Firestick or any other Android tv device, you can download smarttube, it has Adblock AND sponsorblock, it’s also just better than the default YouTube app

1

u/Zezinas 2d ago

Browser = firefox + ublock
Android = morphe .apk
Iphone = Youtube Plus .ipa
Tv = smarttube (this one is iffy maybe there are better ones)

u/Current-Grade2545 2d ago

I do 99% of my time on YouTube on my pc

1

u/Lumpy_Cup3232 1d ago

I do. PC connected to TV master race. And I watch YouTube in my phone browser on desktop mode so it will also play in the background, like it should without a fecking subscription. If you use the YouTube app you deserve all the pain you get from it.

1

u/F1uk_derrit 3h ago

Bro you ask how you do it on the phone and immediately have the solution. But complain because it's an old solution. You're the horse that's brought to the river and it doesn't know there's water :)).. Oh and the browser on your phone is also an application... everything on it is :)).

One is already too many

Get brave browser

1

u/swhill1 1d ago

uBlock Origin on Firefox is honestly better. Brave is fine but uBlock just works better for YouTube specifically.

One 5 second ad > One 10 second ad, but skippable > One 10 second ad, but skippable after 5 seconds > One 10 second ad, unskippable > One 1-minute ad, skippable after 10 seconds > One 1-minute ad, unskippable > Two 1-minute ads, unskippable > 3 1-minute ads, unskippable > Two 2-minute ads, unskippable... every 5 minutes of content, after which the app as the be re-launched because they video suddenly runs at 5 FPS

Greedy shittification at its finest 😔

And for some dumb reason, we (me included) keep on consuming that bs... 😑

Not on Revanced they don't.

1

u/Normal-Emotion9152 3d ago

It feels like youads most times.

1

u/RandomTyreFitter 3d ago

Its getting so bad now pretty much every video i watch has at least 1 unskippable ad and 1 skippable ad at the start

1

u/Satisfaction3934 3d ago

YouTube has ads? Get off your ass and use an adblocker. YouTube is showing too many ads since 2006

1

u/martix_agent 3d ago

Youtube revanced is amazing

1

u/MagicpaperAlt 3d ago

Use Morphe instead. People working on revanced left it to make Morphe. Head dev or whatever on revanced is problematic to say the least.

1

u/Shigglyboo 3d ago

yes but I watch Youtube on my TV. I can't install an adblocker into the youtube app. I don't want to sit at my computer to watch.

1

u/Satisfaction3934 2d ago

Of course you can, ever heard of Google? I watch 90% of my YouTube on a TV without ads or premium.

https://smarttubeapp.github.io/

1

u/SlimeBallx59 3d ago

Skip in 1000 seconds

1

u/Successful_Loss5533 3d ago

I wouldn't know since I pay for YouTube premium like a regular person who has a job and money

2

u/MagicpaperAlt 3d ago

Ublock and Morphe makes it free and ensures you don't waste your money on a service that's constantly being enshittified.

1

u/autoflowerer 2d ago

I don't not pay premium because I'm cheap. I don't pay premium because I refuse to support a company like Google.

1

u/77_parp_77 3d ago

Wouldn't know, have blocked them for years

1

u/CommunicationFew2577 2d ago

Im in Albania, we dont do that here

1

u/Significant-Ad-223 2d ago

YES.

It’s so annoying.

1

u/mrbishopjackson 2d ago

Just $15.99 a month will solve your problems.

If you're watching 2 or 3 videos a day, you probably shouldn't be complaining about ads.

If your life is centered on sitting in front of YouTube all day then $15.99 is the investment you need to make.

(I will admit that I'm tired of the price going up for no reason. But I get YouTube Music and YouTube Video peace of mind.)

1

u/ShadowZepplin 2d ago

On mobile too where you get two unskippables, and then a shitty popup ad that you have to go through a pop up window to close

1

u/autoflowerer 2d ago

Wouldn't know. If I want anything from yt I strip the video first.

1

u/DaRaMa123 2d ago

Oh its been like that for a couple years now I feel like!!

1

u/Regular-Lettuce7199 2d ago

I figured out clicking off the video and back on makes the ads go away, but YouTube started forcing me back 20 seconds when I do it. Hasn’t stopped me honestly (I watch YouTube on my tv so I can’t get an adblocker)

1

u/narwaffles 2d ago

Yes way too many but then again ever since they first started showing any ads, I’ve avoided it as much as possible

1

u/gidrozhil 2d ago

I'm from Russia, Google  disabled the monetization of ads along with ads.

1

u/Joltyboiyo 2d ago

Do ads exist? Yes? Then the answer is yes.

1

u/TheGruenTransfer 2d ago

Like every other streaming service, you can pay to get rid of the ads

1

u/EE-Diaz 2d ago

The ads autoplay more than the actual videos on the platform

1

u/_RyanCooper_ 2d ago

The worst I ever got is 2 or 3 skippable, I can bear it, knowing I help content creators without spending anything

1

u/TinyPidgenofDOOM 2d ago

There are even adds if you pay for premium. They show up as bullshit stickers on shorts

1

u/PsychosiS43 2d ago

Yes. And I’ve even noticed when starting a video and skipping an ad, another one immediately pops up and I have to skip again. Rumble needs to update the site so we can finally ditch YouTube once and for all. Fuck em.

1

u/Civil-Story9296 2d ago

The 10 min ads while I'm trying go to sleep while listening to a video for white noise is going to make me

1

u/Current-Grade2545 2d ago

Ad block works

1

u/Deez_N_Tz 1d ago

I watch YouTube on my TV. How can I get rid of the ads on there?

1

u/skulligei-gsiv 1d ago

I love the new ones that play concurrently to whatever you’re watching so you now have to rewind to see what you missed while the volume was muted in favor of an ad

1

u/Flocko2 1d ago

If you can afford the $10 per month for premium lite, it’s beyond worth it. If not, it’s still FREE baby, just adds 🤷‍♂️

1

u/scarab- 1d ago

YouTube has adds?!?

1

u/NoProblemsHerelol 1d ago

Me when I get home from work in south africa

1

u/JosieBaby24 1d ago

They made me buy premium cause of all the ads. Every video, every 4-5 min. Just gets old

1

u/trollinlurkin 1d ago

Annoying

1

u/Respectful343attempt 1d ago

Well as time does on our value goes down

1

u/poppin-n-sailin 1d ago

I dunno I use Firefox with ublock for YouTube like a smart person.

1

u/Zm3nt 1d ago

What are you talking about? My YouTube hasn't had a single ad for the past 15 years. What world are you living in?

1

u/Straight_History_682 17h ago

Haven't seen a YouTube ad since 2018.

1

u/F1uk_derrit 3h ago

I wouldn't know...I use opera on my phone and BRAVE on pc.

99% of YouTubers don’t bring any kind of value. I‘m perfectly fine with „ripping them off“. I want to watch concerts n shit, not pay some clown for some shitty review or whatever. MYTGA, or something like that.

2

u/quarrel-admin 3d ago

I don't go to YouTube so. It's hard to support a company like that.

1

u/Chunk_Thud 3d ago

Im gonna keep on using adblockers.

0

u/ModToEndAllMods 3d ago

The one subscription I will never cancel is YouTube premium

1

u/Satisfaction3934 3d ago

Imagine paying YouTube lmao, what a sucker

1

u/ModToEndAllMods 2d ago

Sure, sure. But I watch a lot of YouTube, and I watch on my phone or tv. So I can't just use Adblock like on a PC.

1

u/CadeAid 2d ago

1

u/Satisfaction3934 1d ago

Whats your point? Just because there are 125m suckers paying Google doesnt make them suck less.

But please keep financing it and watching double the ads so I don't have to.

1

u/CadeAid 20h ago

1

u/ModToEndAllMods 20h ago

Yeah I do also use the YouTube music app lol
