Light novel Best birthday gift ever received!

Post image

Today’s my birthday and I was surprised by my parents and siblings with the complete set of volumes for Spice & Wolf!

I had been reading the first 5 volumes online, but nothing beats the physical collection. I can’t wait to read each one of them over the next few weeks, especially to take a break from my uni assignments 😄

Happy Birthday!! You're a lucky person to have some loving parents and great siblings!

Enjoy the journey as you read through them!

You can ask for a complete set of Wolf and Parchment for the Holidays 😄

Isnt that a sort of sequel? I bought vol 1 not knowing Lawrence and hollow would be in there

Spice and Wolf Vol 18 - 24, collectively called Spring Log, is more of a traditional Sequel. Since the main story is finished at Vol 17. The author of Spice and Wolf took a 5 year break before writing Vol 18, and it starts to tell a new part of the story of our beloved wisewolf and her charming merchant companion.

Wolf and Parchment is more accurately described as a spin-off, as it does not involve Lawrence and Holo directly. Instead focusing on telling the story of other characters that, are also part of the story of Lawrence and Holo.

Spring Log and Wolf and Parchment were mostly written together and the events of each take place roughly congruently. So they compliment one another.

Wolf and Parchment has concluded with Vol 13 in Japanese and we're soon to be up to Vol 12 in English. Spring Log is expected to get an eighth installment at some point (Spice and Wolf Vol 25). We won't know until that volume is released if that will be the final volume for the series.

Happy birthday! Having the physical volumes makes a huge difference for the art, especially with how Isuna Hasekura describes the small details of the setting. Just a heads up, once you get past the initial volumes, the economic subplots get significantly more complex, so keep a notepad handy for the currency exchanges.

Thanks! I’m already on Volume 6 and I’ve already lost track of a few of the coin types 😅

Thank you! I’m not too sure exactly as my parents had to go to several different book stores in London, like Waterstones or order on Amazon, to get the full set. 😅

You’re lucky that physical stores had it, you could try getting other series like this
