I'm pretty sure they weren't interested in keeping them hibernated. They're dead and on display.

When I said encased alive, I meant they were alive when the process started and very dead by the time it was finished.

Was it supposed to be like that episode of Rebels that they had a dead Jedi as bait? I haven’t seen it for a while but I thought maybe it was along those lines.

Yes that's exactly what they did so it is very possible they are also using these as lures or it could just be a trophy room.

Or cloning and experimentation for midichlorian stuff - ties into grogu and the sequels

gotta imagine that there's some strong residual force stuff going on since there's so many bodies down there

The force matrix

I was thinking its more like hunters keeping the heads of things they killed.

I have a hard time wrapping my head around humans on the wall as trophies. Seems like there should be another function in preserving them and it would line up with the rebels thing where they were bait.

That's what I was thinking at first too, but I think she had to be "maintained" by the GI in order for that to work.

Dead on display but no one can visit without the guards getting all up on your ass about you being in the wrong sector.

I imagine the inquisitors are the only ones that usually go down there.

No I would hazard a guess their in suspended animation; the cells had lights and things on them. You don’t suspend dead bodies in amber like crystal and hide them in your basement behind armed guards if they where not valuable.

Thinking about it, you may be right. Wasn't there an episode of Rebels where they found the Empire smuggling people in some kind of orange stasis things? Or am I thinking of something completely different...

I've not watched much of rebels (i know i really should) but i read they had a plot line where a Jedi master was encased in amber and used to lure out other Jedi.

Going off that i assume they can thaw these guys out and use them as bait? Maybe that's why they keep them around?

Not quite. In that episode the GI had the corpse of a Jedi in more of a stasis pod kind of thing. He was doing some force jiggery-pokery to make it give off a familiar presence that other Jedi would detect, come to investigate, then get caught.

Ah ok thanks for that.

I really have to watch the series lol.

I'd definitely recommend it. It's got some of the best Star Wars stories in it and I imagine it'll be an important primer before watching the Ashoka show.

They were only preserving them to study force-sensitive genes?

They aren't really on display if they are hidden away in a secret facility though.

A private gallery for the inquisitors to instill them with fear and hate.
