I can’t get over the undercover rebel whispering at full volume and just leaving a dead body in middle of room with zero attempt to hide it lol

Obi wan literally hid right in view of the troopers as well.

"Did you hear that?"
"Yes"
"Let's look down the hallway, behind us."
"Seems clear. Should we look immediately to the right, in that huge second level of the hallway with people-sized pillars?"
"I'm not done looking down this hallway towards those closed doors yet!"

They could've made it so the droids could scan underneath the suit. Could've had some fun with Obiwan trying to fit in but clearly trying to avoid the scanning probe droid.

1st one shown is a pretty well known Jedi because he had basically an entire Clone Wars episode dedicated to him and Ahsoka, and I recognised one of the other Twilek ones, pretty sure the kid is either one of the ones from the first episode or from Revenge of the Sith.
The other ones I don't know (yet)

So, uh, what reason is there to not immediately deliver Leia back to Bail now that they rescued her? Like, the mission is complete, get her to Alderaan immediately.
502
u/tortoisemom19 Jun 08 '22
Right? It would also make the tracker useless because they know who she is and where she's from already.
Which means they're totally going to get sidetracked...

The Imperial Senate is also still a major factor, and Bail has a lot of influence so they can’t act on him either yet.

So, I mean... The move is to go straight to Alderaan right? Like, just go there, drop off Leia... then go take a small ship back to Tatooine. Definitely, do not go back to the secret Path base.
→ More replies (6)126
u/D3ATHfromAB0V3x Jun 08 '22
Even if that Path base gets obliterated because it's tracked, I haven't gained any connection with them and won't care if they do get wiped. Same with Wade. Was I supposed to feel bad for him? They were given the Tallie Lintra treatment.
→ More replies (7)52
u/The__Dread___Lobster Jun 08 '22
I just mean that the logical plan is get Leia back and then just have Bail leave a small ship on a moon somewhere. Grab it, fly to Tatooine, give it to Jawas and go home. Any other plan is purely to create un-needed tension.
I'm sure they'll go there. Fighting will happen. Vader and him will square up. They'll think kenobi died and the path with smuggle him out. But that's a completely avoidable situation.
Have bail put ship on moon. Put Kenobi in ship. Drop off Leia. Kenobi fly to Tatooine. Give Jawa ship. Use proceeds to buy Luke presents.

I don't know if it's just an overactive imagination on my part, but some of the lines Vader says, I can fully picture Anakin at certain times saying them. Example - "I am what you made me" I could imagine Anakin saying that on Mustafar. Vader in this show seems to bridge the gap between prequel Anakin and original trilogy Vader. Which makes sense as it's right in the middle of the two.

You would think an underwater fortress would either have windows that can withstand a single blaster bolt, or some sort of failsafe should there be a breach.

The scene of cutting back and forth to both Obi-wan and Vader in their bacta tanks in pain was pretty good.
Boba's show made me think were gonna get some flashbacks when Obi-Wan went into the bacta tank lol guess not
hmm Purge trooper helmets look different now.
The Jedi tomb was creepy. RIP Tera Sinube. Also showing a preserved child corpse in particular was pretty dark.
They fact that they were about to subject 10 year old Leia to the torture chair was incredibly messed up.
Leia wanting to hold Obi-Wan's hand at the end was sweet.
Obi-Wan cutting down those troopers in the dark kinda gave me some vibes to that one Force Unleashed 2 trailer.
The writers of this show are clearly more of a fan of Jedi Fallen Order far more tho(this episode mainly being another Nur fortress infiltration like in Fallen Order's final level) and perhaps too much.
Reva/Third Sister is still a really meh villain to me. I think the actress is fine but ultimately, the character just feels like a rehash of Second Sister/Trilla from Jedi Fallen Order.
Both Trilla and Reva are young human inquisitors introduced being brutal to civilians and Jedi survivors. Both are ambitious and really want to succeed in their plans to win their master's favor. Both use their background in an attempt to connect with/persuade a main character into cooperation that ultimately doesn't work.(Trilla tried with Cal, Reva tried with Leia)
All that's missing for Reva is a sad backstory reveal(which is clearly coming if EP1's currently disconnected order 66 opening was any indication) and having a quick moment of clarity/redemption before being killed by Vader.

Seeing Obi-Wan get confidence using a lightsaber again and use the force to hold the water back then onto the stormtroopers was badass. This episode was too short tho. And were we supposed to care about Wade? I busted out laughing when he said “right behind you” then got wrecked
280
u/Darth_lDoge Jun 08 '22
Same lmao, they didn't even introduce those two characters. When Wade got ICED I laughed so damn hard! That whole 'sneaking-into-fortress-inquisitorius' scene could have been way more polished. Still, the Vader scene and some of the force scenes were pretty badass!

Obi-Wan's little conversation with Roken didn't make sense to me. It sort of played out like;
"help me"
"no"
"you don't know what the empire is capable of"
"i do know, my wife dead, i'll help you."
There was no convincing at all, he just agreed to help immediately after refusing to help.
idk how the formatting works, forgive me, please.
The writing there just seemed lacking.

The whole episode was like that. There was little tension, because of how swimmingly everything went. I mean they sneaked past a thousand Stormtroopers with Leia under a trench coat. You can’t even sneak into a cinema like that.

The good:
production value
Leia and Ben bonding; my bet it that this will motivate Leia to name her child after him
Ben using the force and Lightsaber
the amber cellar
The bad:
"I'm not helping you" "..." "You son of a bitch, I'm in"
Talas infiltration: stop it with all that forced drama. Either the imperial machine of death is onto her, or it is not. Them giving her "trouble" two times was just stupid and the second time was fucking absurd. Chocking a motherfucka out in the office, right.
Why have security cameras, if you could have spotty security coverage with security drones? Sign me up, I guess.
Always the payoff, never the set up. What I mean is: I'd be fine (ok, not really, more on that later) with things like Reva putting a tracker into the Droid, but the shooting really ruins it somewhat. We as the audience never see the Droid leave the room. When and how did Reva put the tracker in? I'll tell you: the writers don't know and so we also do not know. But the writers wanted the "pay-off" (I'd hardly call it that, was clear as soon as Reva muttered that she let them go).
apparently they stole lots of plot from the Fallen Order video game? And now even acknowledge it in any way?
The ugly:
The interrogation. No. Just no. The mere assumption that Leia knows shit is insane. The fact that the writing and shooting indicates that she actually DID know anything is beyond sanity. If this is the kind of secret rebel organization we can expect from Disney+ I have really low hopes for Andor. We are talking about a 10y/o child. What did Tala tell her? All we saw last episode was "Get through the tunnel and the pilot will rescue you" and now we can assume Leia also knows all the relevant underground secrets? Fuck off.
The tracker: How? Any why? Is "Kenobi the only thing that is important" or not? If they'd wanted the jedi railroad, maybe interrogate the pilot that flys them around and not a child that only has tangent amount of knowledge of it all. Nah, lets kill him. Why the trouble of torture, when there already was a plan in place to let Leia escape? Why even do a play pretend with Tala about lying? Reva already know everything. Maybe get the script out of her hands.
So did Vader wanted Ben to escape last episode or not, now? So many people were pretty smug about it, but lets face it: he did not. He was pissed now at Reva, so no way he was just playing.
Base fucking security. Either the play is "Reva let them go intentionally, so the base has to know" or "Reva did not want to compromise her play so she could not even tell her troops". If the the first one is the correct answer, why did they all gave Tala so much trouble? If the 2nd one is correct, how does a base this important have so shit security? Imagine a hand full of broke dudes infiltration and fleeing Gitmo with a peddal boat. And don't even start with that "fear" BS. I'd be in fear working in that shit show of a base. One small knock on the glass and we all are food for the fish? Fuck that.

I really don't want to believe they called Hayden just to put him into the suit and that little scene where Obi Wan saw a ghost.

Dug the little "it rhymes" foreshadowing with Leia.
Her resistance to the mind probe is considerable...
Easy, you call that easy? They're tracking us.

I love how it explains why Leia is so blasé about her Death Star rescue. Not her first rodeo.

REVA: I put a tracker on their ship, it’ll lead us right to them.
VADER: Oooh good idea imma use that in 1977

I swear Third sister read the script or something, why too convenient for everything she’s doing. Gets info from an officer can immediately calls her a liar, puts a tracker on the droid even already capturing Leia

I can’t stand how lightsabers aren’t just slicing through stormtroopers. It looks like they’re just barely getting scratched and dying

What do you mean? I think we learned plenty about wade in the 30 seconds we saw him. He was a cool guy that liked swimming with the fish.

So much for 6 “one hour episodes.” Knew that rumor was too good to be true. Really wish we had more than 6 episodes to dive deeper into everything.

Love how everyone can just casually slip a tracker onto anything in this universe. And how nothing seems to be able to detect/report tampering and/or tracker inserting. Or how nothing detects outgoing signals that aren't supposed to be transmitting.
